Whatsapp Rolling Out New Feature To Free Up Phone Space

WhatsApp has now made it a lot easier to free-up space in your mobile phones with a handy storage management tool that is set to roll out sometime this week. This tool, which will be made available on all devices, will allow users to effortlessly identify, review, and bulk delete content such as duplicate files to free up storage space on their phones.

The new storage management tool will be easily reached in the app by heading to Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage. The tool will make it easy to spot and delete unnecessary files that were forwarded or shared multiple times using the instant messaging app, and will also feature various cleanup suggestions.

Earlier, WhatsApp’s storage management tool or “Storage Usage” tool simply sorted all available chats by the amount of space they take up, listing the number of messages, photos, GIFs, and videos in each chat, and letting the user delete each category with a few taps. This, although quite effective made it easier to delete bulk messages, in turn, made users delete files that were important.
