Gunfire was exchanged and an explosive belt possibly used in a terror attack in Vienna, Austria Monday afternoon.

According to the Kronen Newspaper, the attacker shot at a synagogue near Schwedenplatz in Vienna, which was closed at the time but guarded by a police officer.

A gun battle erupted after the shooter then turned to a nearby non-kosher restaurant, shooting at the patrons before allegedly blowing himself up with a suicide belt.

There are casualties and injuries reported, including the synagogues police officer who is reported in critical condition.
