Genius! Attorney Generals Plan To Reduce Violent Police Encounters? Remove The Laws

by CrownHeights.info

In another show of pandering to the mob, New York’s Attorney General Letitia James released a report on the NYPD’s response to the recent protest, and advocated for decriminalizing minor infractions so that they should not escalate into violence.

“Minor offenses should be decriminalized with the goal of reducing negative contact with the police, particularly in communities of color,” James wrote in her report. “This effort should be led by a transparent commission with full-time staff and resources to determine how to remove armed officers from these scenarios and replace them with dedicated professionals with specialized training.”

The report immediately gained a storm of ridicule based on the fact that many such violent encounters stem from traffic stops, of which would require officers of the law.

Others find the report racially dividing and unconstitutional, noting that the comment that the changes should be made in “communities of color” names them racially based, and undermines the equality of the law.

The NYPD did not comment on the report.
