Moscow, Russia — The Jewish community of Moscow hosted a high profile visit by a top official from the Moscow City Administration. Vladimir Resin, the First Deputy Mayor and Head of the capital’s construction agency, engaged in a tour of numerous local Jewish institutions this past week.

This excursion involved a visit to the building of the Jewish Charity Center ‘Shaarey Tzedek’, which is still under construction, a number of Jewish educational institutions, and the construction site of the Jewish Museum of Tolerance. During this time, he was accompanied by Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar and Aleksander Boroda, Chairman of the board of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.

Among the sites seen by the Deputy Mayor was the dental clinic, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. This will become part of the new building complex that is to include the medical center, the ‘Shaarey Tzedek’ Charity Center, and a large dining room, whose construction has already been completed.

Following his stop at the Charity Center, the Deputy Mayor had a look at the half-ruined former building of Moscow’s historic Autopark, which is slated for reconstruction. Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar then took Deputy Mayor Resin to see the buildings of the ‘Beit Shvidler’ Educational Center and Sport Complex. The official visit culminated with a friendly dinner at the kosher restaurant in the Marina Roscha Jewish Community Center.

the autopark is actually currently undergoing reconstruction and will part of teh building complex which will house the dental clinic, etc. It is being rebuilt by Sha’arei Tzedek, thanks to the Joint and other donors, and the efforts of Rabbi Lazar.
