The Perfect Steak-Out

THURSDAY NIGHT 10:15PM – Derek Nelson, probably one of the dumbest criminals to hit the streets of Crown Heights tried to strike again after being released from police custody a mere three days ago.

It all began when a senior member of Shomrim spied Nelson sneaking around on Union St. near Kingston Ave. The member called for back up in case Nelson was up to his usual antics which sadly for him he was.

While being watched by over twenty units Nelson made his way into a Jewish owned car, parked on Albany Ave. between President St. and Union St. Just as Nelson was putting things into his pockets which the owner of the vehicle had left in his car, the Shomrim units quickly made their move and detained him inside the car until the police were able to arrive.

NOTE: There are 23 more pictures in the extended article. Just click the line below.

As the pictures show; Nelson tried desperately to escape but the Shomrim quickly squelched this attempt. “This is the fourth or fifth time we caught him doing this” said one Shomrim unit.

During the detainment some black passer-bys yelled out to Nelson, “Good, you’re getting what you deserve!” The black man quickly explained to Shomrim that Nelson had tried to mug him earlier in the week and now he is getting his revenge. The black man asked Shomrim if they could let Nelson out of the car so he can beat him up, but of course Shomrim could not allow that.

Enjoy the pictures.

Note that a few members of Shomrim are part time police officers and have a lot of pull in the police department. Shomrim got a detective to come right away, otherwise the police would have been there more then 30 minutes after.

So if you have a problem, or you see someone or something suspicious don’t hesitate to call the Shomrim hotline. It is 24/7 and the number is 718-774-3333

  • Proud member of shomrim.

hopefully, they will keep him locked up now for good. i mean, there has to be a law or something for someone who is arrested over 20 times! this was the 20th time this guy was arrested can you believe that?!
they better keep him off the streets or else shomrim will be waiting for him… you hear that Mr. Nelson, WE WILL BE WAITING!

isn’t there a TV show called "America’s Dumbest Crooks" or something like that? You should have filmed it and submitted the video.

I would like to know where do the part time police officers work since NYC doesn’t have any part time Police Officers.

I know this whole case is funny, but seriously, guys. I’ve been living here over 20 years. I think we really had it good under Guilliani, but it’s getting ridiculous lately. This meshugana has been around, the shooting a couple of nights ago (betw shvartze and shvartze) on Montgomery St, the mugging of the mashgiach recently and the attempt mugging a young lady in broad daylight…… i mean, i don’t find this funny. Yasher koach to Shomrim and Shmira working with the cops, but we’re not getting the message to the higher ups in the Police Dept or Mayor’s office.

in answer to cosmo’s question about never hearing of part time police officers….
there is a division in the NYPD called Auxiliary. surely you have heard of it. they have their own cars, and slightly different uniforms. thier badge looks like a texas ranger style star, as opposed to the standard NYPD badge. these Auxiliary police officers have the same authority as the regular Police except that they do not carry guns and they do not get paid. it’s all volunteer. so there are a few members of shomrim who are Auxiliary (volunteer) Police Officers, and they have friends in the police station. does this answer your inquiry?

  • CH Shomrim

to brooklyn jewish guy: your right, we arent getting the message to them. we want a safer neighborhood and we want out complaints to be heard and taken care of. Shomrim works together with the police, but sadly the police dont work so well together with us. meaning, we catch the bad guys but then the police let them go.
    what can u do?

  • shmuel munkes

What I don’t understand, is why the CH shomrim do not have a relationship with PD like in other areas, particularly Boro Park, Flatbush, Williamsburg. In those areas, the police know that if shomrim are calling they should come ASAP. Why is that not the same in the CH. Why aren’t the shomrim given the proper respect?

    TO AN OUTSIDER:
IT IS NOT TRUE ABOUT POLICE COMING RIGHT AWAY WHEN SHOMRIM IN BP, WILLI, FLAT. ETC. CALL. THERE WERE PLENTY TIMES THAT I WATCHED SHOMRIM HOLDING A MAN FOR A VERY LONG TIME UNTIL POLICE DECIDED TO COME.
