Maple Street Shul Celebrates its 35th Annual Melava Malka!

The annual Melava Malka of Congregation Ahavas Moische, known to most as The Maple Street Shul, took place this past Motzei Shabbos Parshas Ki Tisa in the Reb Berel Junick Simcha Hall at the 612 Maple Street. It was well attended and had a very interesting program.

Eli Blachman the president of The Shul for over 35 years chaired the evening. He opened the evening with welcoming everyone present and told a story how everything that a person does is important and accounted for even though you don’t see results immediately. But the end always bears fruit.

He urged everyone to join in as members and recalled how in the beginning when The Maple Street Shul had it’s first function to begin a membership drive, the Rebbe sent in money for Family Membership. There was also a video played where the Rebbe state that membership is connected with dues.

Eli Blachman then introduced Rabbi Ahron Yaakov Schwei, the Morah D’asra of Crown Heights and Chaver Bais Din of Crown Heights, who inspired the crowd with Divrei Chizzuk and Hisorrerus. Rabbi Schwei recalled when in the 1960’s he used to come say Chassidus in the shul when it was not attended by Lubavitcher Chassidim.

Rabbi Rabbi Meir Shlomo Junick told some stories about Rebitzen Chaya Mushka in connection with the Rebitzen’s Birthday on the 25th of Adar.

Dr. Mordechai Jacobson spoke about Yitzchok Greenstein of blessed Memory. Yitzchok recently passed away and was a member of Congregation Ahavas Moishe. Eli Blachman then recalled how Yitzchok Greenstein always was there to help the Shul especially when there was a Shul Melava Malka, he always was there with his family to help.

Rabbi Sholom Jacobson, the Mashpia of the Shul was the guest speaker and as usual inspired all those present with heartening words with penetrated everyone present. He ended with special stories about the Rebbe.
