in general there is no possibility according to halacha to appoint a rav despite the opinon of the community members. R’ C.S. Cohen didn’t announce that the sons are inheriting the rabonus and giving it over to others, he said that the wish of the late Rabbi was that these people should take over. Montreal is very split about it, and some askonim wanted to politicize the funeral of the Rav and announced whatever they wanted. it is interesting that the samwe people who always pressured the Rav to proclaim or make announcemnts to whatever they wished these people are now shouting you must listen to the Rav… V’ehoir Montreal Tzohalo Vesomaicho
CORRECTION!!!!
Rabbi CS cohen did not say anythibg about sons…yerusha… rabbonus..At the end of the kevurah, HaRav Yosef Hendel said it in his name and in the name of his brother Rabbi ZE Hendel.

Rabbi Hendel was in many ways like a father to me. He was a true Lubavitcher Chossid and his ahavas Yisroel was definitely unmatched. 5 years have passed since I left Montreal but knowing that Rov Hendel was there was always comforting and made me feel protected. His memory should be for us a blessing and his merit should protect us. I will miss him.

Everyone that was at the Levaya knows what I’m talk ink about : and It was the moset embarrasing thing I have ever expirianced – that goes as a lubavitcher and for kovod Hameis.
was there
i find it hard to beleive that a son can inheret his fathers position if he is not and has no intention of living in the place of rabonus. i may be wrong and io shall stand corrected if i am.
let it be said that this levaya was hijacked by elements outside of montreal and caused a great chilul hashem that montreal lubavitchers will have to pay for for a long time to come
montrealer
what should i say
the issue of the rabbonus regardless, we went to levayeh and came home from a purim shpiel… venahafoich hu mamosh…
montrealer was there
It was a great chilul lubavitch as there many people from other communities there as he was av beis din. Some people decided to make some political statements which is wrong for a levaya and not koved hameis.

PROUD MONTREALER
I was there. It was beautiful the way his hiskashrtus and bittul to the Rebnbe was expressed.
I am sure it made the Rabbonim there feel humbled.
It was obvious that he was a few steps above of all of them.
It weas clear that he was not a politically correct Rabbi (unlike the kind we have today, unfortunately).
It was touching to see how EMESdik he lived.
I did not leave embarrased of Lubavitch.
I left proud that our community was zoche to have a Rav like that.
Moshaich NOW!!
noch another montrealer
for the record this ha snothing to do with yechi per se.
the question is wether we say it at funerals or not…
and if we do say it at funerals, do those who engineer it be locals who take responsibility for it and face the music for the next couple of years or should it be done by those who will be back in crown heights or some obscure chabad house in mtl within 24 hours leaving the community to face the music on their own.
there will probably be a price to pay for what happened. it’s unfortunate that those who brought this situation upon us wont be here to pay the price for what they did, leaving us here to pick up the pieces
Eli Wilansky
he was my grand-father so if anyone has to say good or bad about him, before or after he passed away you should be embarresd to say anythying about him and not metion WHO YOU ARE!!! and whu do you think you are to even think of such things about this special man, there are pleanty of poeple in Montreal whu respect him then and now, so if you have something waht to say or to talk about him or the levaya KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!!!! and thats waht cusses chilel Hashem and chilel Lubavitch, and thats not waht the Rebbe wants “To Fight For No Reason” how long do we have to wait!!!
RE: NOCH ANOTHER MONTREALER
If you think that Yechi will change peoples opiniion about Lub. you live in a dream world.
Ther baalebatim that respect Lub. will do sso anyways, and all the Chassidshe (VAAD HAIR INCLUDED) ddont (and never will) respect us nno matter what.
BTW that obscure chabad house has more full fledged Baal Teshuvahs than al the Chabad hoses combined!!
Bottom line!!!
If oyu respect Lub., others will too!!
If you bad mouth Lub., other will too!!
