The assault occurred in an area frequented by violence at Schenectady and Carroll Avenues.
Because of a close connection with the 71st and 77th precincts of the NYPD, Chief Fox and Inspector Vega, police manpower was stationed within earshot of the incident only 1 block away who responded immediately to the commotion.
‘Press Release’ from the Vaad Hakohol
(Brooklyn, NY) — Moshe Rubashkin, Chairman of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council has expressed his deepest concerns about the latest attack on a young Jewish bochur by 7 black men which sent him to the hospital on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year.
In fact, these two officers were able to quickly catch and arrest 3 of the youths without any additional police backup. NYPD then blanketed the neighborhood to search for the others and detectives are still following up on leads from the community.
Through some quick action by the Brooklyn DA Hynes, two of the assailants are set to be tried as adults and the third who is only 15 years old, in family court.
Moshe Rubashkin states that these deplorable hate crimes must stop now and the council will be tireless in the pursuit of justice and to insure the safety of our residents.
If you have any information about this crime please call the NYPD directly or CrimeStoppers with tips.
baruch
Moshe Rubashkin has been tirelessly calling the mayor’s office, elected officials, NYPD, the District Attorney’s offfice, and others. He is making every effort to get the city to pay attention and stop the madness of the teenage perps preying on Crown Heights. Thank you Moshe for your work.
wondering in CH
with PD right near the site of the attack, why are we demanding more police protection ?
Cee
This is very comforting to see. Finally it seems that the community leaders have realized how serious this is. I was beginning to think the only people who cared were us visitors of this blog. Kol Hakovod to the police, whoever organized the rally and the community council. I just hope things don’t slowly fade to obscurity, we have to keep this up until the people committing the crimes realize this isn’t a play ground for them anymore.
Can-t trust the Vaad
to Baruch:
If what you say is true, how come Moshe Rubashkin has NEVER publicly said anything about all these crimes & violence? He’s the head of the Vaad Hakohol, he should be keeping us informed. Or are we to just let him have total power with no accountability?
I don’t believe he cares enough about any of us to be bothered to do too much. I hope none of his family are attacked. But you can be sure if they are, Chas V’, he’ll move fast to get more cops & some results.
Moshe Rubashkin…you have a big mouth when it suits you. Try speaking up for us now.

How can we email Moshe Rubashkin directly?
Isn’t it better to have mobile (walking, etc.) police instead of stationary?
This might reduce (eliminate?) the need for new police, no?
They should walk (scooter or 2?) in random patterns, stop at a particular corner, meet 2 other cops, shmooze (good for spirits) 10-15 minutes, then go off (one or 2) in a different direction.

TO Can-t trust the Vaad
You have no idea what so ever even who Moshe Rubaskhkin is what he has and is doing for the community with out any fanfare. Youre comments are malicious and certainly does not help ANYTHING at all
still can-t trust the Vaad
to AY,
Yes, we know all about the $$$ Rubashkin gives to pay for a Purim Seuda etc.
And so???
He’s still supposed to REPRESENT OUR INTERESTS with the powers-that-be. And we don’t know if he does, because he never says anything!
Course, with his ego, if he DID do anything re crime he’d make damn sure we all know about it, just like we all know about the Purim Seuda, Kollel clothing vouchers, etc etc.
My father always said that it’s easy to write a check (even if you don’t have money, which he does.) It’s much harder to actually DO something.
Regardless of whether you agree, you must agree (if you live here!) that we are not protected & Moshe Rubashkin has not once, until today’s report, said a single word about the crime here. And that’s absolutely unacceptable for someone in his (ELECTED??) position.
AY…get real! You can’t live in la-la land for ever.
Sees thru Rubashkins- $$$$$#@#%#**$#@!!!
I agree wholeheartedly with "Cee", "Can’t Trust the Vaad", "Boruch N. Hoffinger" and "still can’t trust the Vaad".
Try making a dinner in Rubashkins’ name and honoring them with plaques, or try plastering the streets with posters about the chesed they do!!
That should work!!!
That would surely prompt Moshie Rubashkin to rise to the call of the hour.
