New 2.3 Million Dollar Shlichus Initiative Now Underway!
After months of extensive planning, preparation and training, the first 10 Shluchei Mivtzah Torah will now be embarking upon their new groundbreaking shlichus. An additional six Shluchei Mivtzah Torah are being finalized shortly, while seventeen others are in the midst of the interview process.
The first 10 Shluchei Mivtzah Torah will be taking up positions in Atlanta, GA, Palo Alto, CA, Great Neck, NY, Portland, OR Providence, RI, Chicago, IL, Florida, and three additional locations in Canada.
“This latest Merkos initiative, underwritten by the Rohr Family Foundation, promises to greatly enhance the already extensive adult education network in Chabad Centers around the world, by dedicating shluchim exclusively to the preparation and delivery of Shiurei Torah” said Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, chair of the Shluchei Torah Committee.
The price tag for the initial phase is close to $2,300,000, granting seed money for a two year salary to 33 couples appointed to serve as Shluchei Torah.
Announced less than ten months ago at the annual Kinus Hashluchim, the project has rapidly materialized as the latest trailblazing imitative in the world of shlichus.

I think that the time has come for shluchim to go out directly under the mercaz. That way there will be a uniform code that will govern the way the shluchim are treated. I am not sure if this is the intention of th way this is being handled, but it should be

The program is that the Mercaz is hirring shluchim to work directly under JLI to give shiurim in cities around the world. I think that with the world getting smaller and smaller, it is smart to centralize shlichus especiially under a strong natural leader like Rav Kotlarsky
