The Sefer Torah is not a new one. Belonging to a resident of Buckhurst Hill, Raymond Nathan and his family the Sefer is over 100 years old. For the last 10 years or so the Sefer has been possul and not in use. Michael Nathan, one of Raymond’s sons and Paul Groman-marks, a brother-in-law who are both very involved with the new Chabad House undertook to have the Sefer repaired so that it could be presented to Chabad for use in the new Centre.

Over 100 family, friends and community members gathered Sunday for a grand procession from the home of Raymond Nathan through the streets of Buckhurst Hill to a local hall where a reception was held and then continued to the Chabad House where the Torah was placed in the ark ready for use in time for Rosh Hashanah.
