Boy Rescued After Tongue Gets Stuck on Frozen Pole
An 8-year-old boy in Oklahoma has been rescued after getting his tongue stuck to a metal pole after he licked it as part of a dare.
Official said rescue crews arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning to find the boy standing on his tip-toes, trying to work his tongue off the frozen pole.
The pole in question was a ‘Stop’ sign outside Woodward Middle School.
Paramedics eventually freed the youngster after pouring hot water on his tongue.
The eight-year-old revealed after the ordeal he had decided to lick the frozen pole after being dared to by his brother.
The boy was later taken to a Woodward hospital for treatment. Police have not released the names of the two brothers.

your comments are….
this goes on anywhere it’s cold, we have lots of storys where this happened to lubavitcher kids, by some their whole top layer of their tongue came off…

i dont know what you are talking about! The top layer of tongue does not come off. you can make a small laceration on your tongue if you yank your head back but if its taken off properly, there is no harm done. How do i know…number one i studied medicine and number 2, it happened to me when i was a little kid. no harm done!

Ice at zero Celsius is slippery, but ice far below zero becomes sticky and dry.
It’s because the outer layer exposed to the environment is actually liquid.
Thats why icy roads are most dangerous when temperatures are near freezing, or rather, when melting. If its far below freezing, the sticky ice provides traction!!!
Thanks no. 17 for the medical tip of the day

how is this newsworthy
tip fr frozen tongues
if you pour hot water on a tongue you will burn the tongue. the correct way is to blow hot air on it either by a family members mouth or even a hair dryer on warm

btw the top layer of your tongue can not come off. its physically impossible! The tongue is a thick muscle…NOT skin!
