At around 9:10pm Shomrim received a call from a man who’s wife had just been mugged. Immediately numerous Shomrim members arrived on scene and began canvassing for what the woman described as two male blacks who got away with her purse.

The woman stated she was attacked by the two perp’s one came up behind her while the other came up in front of her and grabbed her purse and made their way down Albany towards Lefferts. Police were notified by both Shomrim and the victim, but took nearly 30 minutes to respond. When police finally arrived they stated that the reason for the delay was due to the fact that they had only 2 cars out and they had cut their ‘lunch break’ short to take the call.

Police then took the woman for a canvas and when that turned up negative they filed a police report.

    That poor lady… everytime i read a mugging story on crownheights.info i always feel so bad for these women -probably because my wedding rings were stolen and i know how awful it feels to be violated and taken advantage of….

    hope you recover soon and i hope you will be able to sleep at night …

    ps. – why are people still living in crown heights and subjecting themselves to an unsafe neighborhood for themselves, their wives and their children? i wonder if living in "kan tzivah… yadda yadda…" is actually worth the anguish and heartache….

    i doubt it.

    How much longer do we have to suffer through this in our own community?! We need to do something to show the police and the politicians that we are sick of being cherry picked for muggings, burglaries, break ins to our cars and violent attacks.

    The situation in crown heights how reached a point where women are being mugged for their strollers in broad daylight and young bochurim get their heads smashed in for their cell phones. Where do we live? IN a jungle??

    If we take away the food source the sharks will go away.
    For example only cary small amounts of money when walking around and try not to show to much bling(jewelery). For house intruders motion sensors and a good Aluminum Bat. We Need to go on offense. Self defense classes for woman can’t hurt.

    How many cars do they USUALLY have out at this time of night on a normal weekday? If it’s only THREE, I might understand this excuse, as it would indicate that only one car takes its lunch break at a time.

    But if it’s usually MORE than three, it appears that the lunch breaks DO need to be more staggered.

    i never read this site but a friend told me about the crime in ch and i figured i would check it out. my daughter just got married and lives there now. i can’t believe what’s going on – do you people realize that the situation is dteriorating hourly. every successful crime opens the door to many many more. remember people "what you ignore, you allow and encourage" – that applies to your kids and to the criminals invading your community. take your neighborhood back from those animals-regain control.

    im part of ems AND im jewish,and if im taking my lunch break(which btw we BARELY get cause were so busy) and we hear a 10-13 call go out, you think that i would hesitate to respond? theres no question,im there,regardless if your jewish or not,and i would expect the same from you for anyone else.
    Your lunch break can be resumed later.

    Get your priorities straight!

    the poster above who wrote kan tziva & yada yada. It ain’t yada yada bro, if you live in CH you’ll understand – its not too complicated. Crime happens all over. In suburbs, in Montreal, in Scarsdale or the Bronx. makes no difference. If Hashem has an incident in the cards for someone it’ll happen regardless. CH is fun for me and for everyone else who ain’t moving period.

    I THINK WE SHOULD START MONITORING THE POLICE STATION. I LIVE RIGHT NEAR THE POLICE AND WHENEVER YOU PASS BY, THERE ARE AT LEAST 8 CARS PARKED DOING NOTHING. IF YOU DRIVE THROUGH THE ALLEY, YOU CAN SEE THE HARD WORKERS IN THE REC ROOM UPSTAIRS DOING NOTHING. MAYBE IF THEY KNEW THEY WERE UNDER SURVEILLANCE THEY WOULD RESPOND ALOT FASTER.

    whats w/ all the crown heights residents and HATING the cops? i dont live in ch, but wen im there i always c the cops racing 2 the emergency-i was actually there and i saw wen the people called the cops and 5 minutes later there were 10 cop cars AND 2 ambulances!! so just STOP hating because they are just doing their job!!

    From My experience reading peoples feed back to many articles on this site, I think it’s safe to assume that people will start to put blame on why the situation is the way it is.

    On that I can only say. It is not our fault in any way.
    When I say “OUR” I mean the day to day people that have job’s, who are fathers and mothers (and I don’t have to say Yeshiva Bochorim- for they are surly is Yeshiva learning). We don’t need to get involved, we are busy (some of use can loose our jobs if we get involved in politics…)

    For that reason we have Elected Community leaders, there supposed to be representing use, they are supposed to be defending use and that I must say is a lost case.

    Unfortunately, we have no leaders, no Representation and no Defense. We are doing our part by going out to vote for these people, we expect them to do “our” job for use.

    If you noticed, By Klein Livaya, the police put up gates along Eastern Parkway, Those gates were there, because they know that people were mad and frustrated about how crime/Justice was being handled in “our” Community. They were expecting a riot.
    (Note: people get shot and killed every day, some don’t even make it to 1010 wins, that day almost every media outlet was seen in Crown height, they did not come to just see a Jewish Livaya, they were expecting more).
    Is that what they got?
    Did any of our leaders/representatives get up and make some noise? [Please note: when I say riot or noise I don’t mean in a violent way]. Instead we got a circus full of clowns smiling for the camera and talking about gun control. They had” our” chance and they blew it.

    You might ask, your so smart, why is it that you did not do anything?
    How could we do anything, when not only will the so called “leaders” not do what they are surposed to, they will go against anybody who tries.
    On that day we were ask not to say or do anything, for “we will handle it”. That they did.
    And that is why we are being treated this way.
    What a waist.
    Until we start making a lot of noise this will not stop.

    You do know that their is a diffrents between a Bocher and a married person or a person with a family.
    when you will g-d willing come to that time in life, you will understand.
    i.e. at that time you will not go out in the street with blazing guns looking for the troble makers, you have other people to take care of, its not just about you.

    Now thank g-d we have people like Shomrim who do go out their and do a great job.
    I am sure even in Shomrim there is a diffrents between the married and un-married guys when it come to being out their.

    Just because you are brave (I hope not stupit) you can’t expect it from everybody else.

    If you say you can do some thing, then do it.
    Just don’t get yourself in any danger.

    true trooper, hate to break this to you, but the cops won’t give up their lunch break or their coffee break or tea break or any break for ANYONE!
    and to Duby I say the Rebbe’s words still holds true Kan tzivah Hashen es habrocho. But if you don’t like the neighborhood MOVE OUT no one is holding you prisoner. DON’T live there and complain about it. If you want to stay but dont like the crime DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! simply knocking the Rebbe’s shchunah doesn’t accomplish anything.
    to Bochur I say, you speak like a real bochur who is niave and definitely NOT street wise. You can have a pocket full of knives but you will handle it like a bochur while the shvartze animal is well trained in how to use these things with the swiftest motions etc. ‘
    Perhaps it’s time that people in crown Heights -who truly care, (especially those that were unfortunately targeted by these animals ) should spend some time calling some of these talk shows on the radio and call for action line on the radio and begin publicizing what is going on and the total lack of concern and action from the police. Neither the police nor the council will appreciate this kind of publicity and "might" therefore be forced to do something to improve the situation. If the call for action lilne was bombarded with several hundred calls from crown heights people it’s bound to create a commotion in the places where it counts.
