Online Banking is Restored at Chase After Outage

NEW YORK [AP] — Chase’s online banking service was restored just after 1 a.m. EST on Wednesday after being down all day Tuesday.

The site went down on Monday night, affecting its 16.5 million customers who bank online. Chase spokesman Thomas Kelly couldn’t specify the exact time service was disrupted, or the reasons for the outage, only saying that it stemmed from a technical problem.

Outraged bank customers took to their Twitter accounts to share their frustration. Some wondered what would happen to automated bill payments scheduled for that day.

The lack of explanation and the length of the outage didn’t please Jacob Jegher, senior analyst at Celent, a Boston-based financial research and consulting firm.

“Many customers will incur fees resulting from late bill payments,” Jegher wrote in a comment posted on the firm’s website. “This is something the bank will have to address with customers and is clearly a huge inconvenience.”

Kelly said Chase would work with any customers who had online bill payment deadlines they couldn’t meet because of the outage.

Chase bank is part of JPMorgan Chase & Co., the second-largest U.S. bank measured by assets.

front page maybe, but cannot access bank accounts, they may(chase) want to consider an IT dept that actually corrects the problem, instead of advertizing the site is working.

i think i know why they r #2 and now may fall to number last.
if u upset 16.4 million customers, that may effect the bottom line. Duhhh.
