Clarification:
This guy was NOT a j for j. As a matter of fact we didn’t find any Jewish j for j’s out there. They should change their name to G for J.
This man was one of the many jews walking brighton ave on a hot sunday afternoon. There were several groups of bachurim putting on tefilin and handing out anti missionary literature that particular day. Unconfirmed reports claim 40 ppl put on tefilin just that afternoon!
We battle darkness with light. The best way to stop these people is by purifying the air with a mitzvah done in their vicinity.
As to wether one should put on tefilin with a mesis umediach, according to halacha these people are probably completely lost. However since mivtzoim is something which is done with the Rebbe’s kochos and the Rebbe will make sure that No JEw Will Be Left Behind ( as in the avraham fried song) it can’t hurt to try. Maybe it will awaken his neshoma and hell return.

its wonderfull to see the buchrim of our comunity doing it right

whatever all you people say, i think its wonderful after reading all these articles on crownheights.info about them targeting us, its finally time that we went out to help them!

If you do run into J for J folks, "are you Jewish?" isn’t enough. You have to find out if they are Jewish *al pi halacha*! Many of them are not.
I am proud but very sceptical
I am pretty sure that by doing that it empowered this shmaded individual…
He feels now that you gave an o.k to his position as a JforJ…

It doesn’t matter what the person claims he is, if he is a Jew then putting on T’fillin with him can do only ONE thing. awaken his neshama. If not today then tomorrow. He will always remember that even though he disclaimed his own heritage these (amazing) chabadniks still saw fit to reach out to him.

omg that guy looks spaced. cant u see the word "brainwashed" in his eyes?? it’s really freaky. but kol hakavod for putting on tefillin with him!
WE WANT MOSHIACH NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this is a smart way for fighting back. One mitzvah leads to another. With Hashem brochos their neshmos will light up. I hope this will lead to a big change in their lives G-d willing! So let them get noticed on who put tefflin on who.

Call me a Misnagid, but Halachikly speaking, these guys are worse than Mumrim and wouldn’t even be counted in a Minyan… even in the most desperate of times. I’d ask a Chassidishe Rov before continuing any Mivtza Teffilin with these individuals.

Let’s try this one more time.
THIS GUY DOES NOT BELONG TO J FOR J!!!!!
Those guys wear grey sweaters with the words j for j in big red letters with a magen david in the middle.
This was a simple jewish boy walking brighton ave. Instead of reading j for j material he was putting on tefilin.

Anyone going on Mivtzaim in Brighton Beach are welcome to use our Chabad House at 2997 Ocean Parkway, near Brighton Beach Ave. We need all the help we can get. There is a group of bochurim/anash that come Friday and Sunday, we need other days as well. The J for J are there 7 days a week. Also, every Thursday night is a big concert in the park at Ocean Parkway and Seabreeze Ave, the j guys are there en masse. There are hundreds of Tefillin oportunities there until sunset.

If a YID puts on Teffiln it’s a mitzvah, if a GOY puts on teffilin, the guy who put it on him has an aveira.
Regarding a YID who shma’ad, it would be at the very least, a sha’alo for a competant rov!
Would ANYONE put teffilin on YOSHKE (yemach Shemo)!?
There is definately a difference between a YID who just doesn’t know he/she is is a YID, and a YID who R"L became a J for (a) meshugeneh.

i was once putting on teffilin on a jew who claimed to be for … , and this yid (in his brainwashed state) "crossed himself" with his teffilin on… i was unsure of how to react, especially as there was a big crowd of onlookers. so all i told him was "put down your hands! its disrespectfull to the teffilin" , which B"H he did. when i got back i asked kuty (feldman) what the correct reaction would have been, He said: you were supposed to yell at him "you’re a sick man, go and get proffetional help…
…i do understand that this guy wasnt a j…j i just want others reading this article and comments to be aware of how to deal with that situation if it arrises… because otherwise it could be a chilul hashem ch"v.

Jews for Jesus are not Halakhically Jewish according to the preponderence of Rabbinical opinion.

In general, yes, every Jew should be given the opportunity to do a mitzvah. But not when he is in a filthy place, like a bathroom. A "J for J" (and this guy may not have been, but the journalist did say he was "working the area") is basically in a filthy place, where he can use something like Tefillin to strengthen his own position. Imagine if a J for J had a picture of himself wearing Tefillin with a smiling Lubavitcher bochur with an arm around his shoulder!
He needs to "clean up" before he can be allowed to do a mitzvah.
It’s nice to say what the Rebbe would say, but I believe there are direct quotes about these people where the Rebbe says "Push them away with both hands." You can give them "Jews for Judaism" literature, and get away. They must be excluded from real Judaism until they can demonstrate a sincere desire to return. They probably have to go mikvah….
When you have children, you will understand why you cannot invite these people over for a Shaboos meal.

Lav Davkah is it an Aveirah to put Teffilin on with a Goy. The only thing that a goy is technically not allowed to do is keep Shabbos and learn Torah. According to some opinions, a %100 Goy could put on teffilin to avoid hatred {Aivah} from the Goy towards Jews.
