At around 9:15 earlier tonight, three bochurim were mugged on the corner of Albany Ave and St. Johns. Just blocks from a jewish building. The mugging occurred while the 22- 23 year old bochurim were conversing, during which there was a cash exchange, at that point a couple of black teenagers ran by and grabbed the cash (Aprox. $200) and sped away on their bikes.

Shomrim were called, and arrived on scene within minutes, who searched the area for the teenagers, but to no avail.

We would like to remind our readers; it’s the summer time, which usually coincides with a spike in crime, especially at night. Please be careful, and if you see something call Shomrim at (718) 774-3333.

While we should be free to do as we please on streets for which we pay taxes, the sad fact is that cash is too dangerous to carry in any big city. Look into debit cards (pre-loaded cards are available at chain pharmacies and supermarkets), Pay Pal etc for friendly cash transactions – the 4% commission or whatever it is is still better than getting mugged.

And how nice to know that the n’shei chayil among our darker citizens are just as vicious as their male counterparts.

How old were the girls? were they riding bikes or tricycles? very embrassing indeed.

Embarrassing? What were the bochurim doing trading CASH at night in the middle of yehupitzville ??!!!!

Forsure the girls were under cover agents working on a drug bust…. (thats my version of the story) … hey, I’ve been robbed twice in my short period living in ch, i’ve learned to luagh it off – and MOVE OUT!!!!!

Bad title, that’s not a mugging. No threat, B"H no injury. A grab and run, that’s called robbery.

Where is the sechel .. the common sense ?

    They are not children!!

You should never have cash out in full view in the street…
whether Kingston ave. or not !!!!
Parents & teachers should know enough to instill in the students heads.. that you must be aware of your surroundings & act accordingly…!

who trades cash in middle of the night on a public street? how old were the girls?

  • The Victim

Your story is completely off it happened on Kingston Ave between E.P. and Lincoln pl one bochour went in to the bank to take out cash to pay the other bochour what he had borrowed from him and where you got the story that it was girls on a bike I don’t know (not that it would make a difference) it is still embarrassing but the fact have to be told. It was a group of two or three young men that hang out next to the bank on the corner and look for prey and right when the money was being exchanged they drove by on their bike and snatched so when you leave the Bank of America on the corner with cash at nigh be very careful (even though there is a guard sitting there but I don’t think he would bother getting out of his car for anything).

    Something about this seems strange.

There’s something about the story that’s missing.

  • Diapers and baby formula

What’s there to be embarrased of? Were those black teenage girls? they most likely needed the money to buy pampers and baby formula for their children. Those bochurim did a mitzva letting those poor girls take the money

No offense intended to those spineless types. It’s just a joke so chill out.

  • hashfanatic

Yeah, it’s prudent and sensible (not to mention believable) that there are all these frumer yidden on that corner, at that hour, suddenly paying back all their collective debts to one another.

  • admosai

The bank should have a camera installed for the outside (of course, that would probably be stolen too)

  • Whats embarrasing?

It’s insulting to the victims to call it embarrassing. and whats embarrasing? have you ever tried chasing a biker while you were on foot? I did when a young teenager snached an expensive Palm out my hand – They made bikes for a reason.

Nothing embarrasing. Shame on the thieves!

It’s actually a burlary. A robbery is basically "gezaila". A burglary is basically "GeNayVa".

  • Coffe and a bagel in Cleveland

a mitzva for them indeed LOL …some of these comments crack me up, I love logging on in the AM with a hOT cup of coffee and reading the CH news.

The one that mentioned moving out and all that, what are you a loser? Ya think its any better in Flatbush or Monsey?? Give me a break, in other areas you flash cash and you get taken too. reminds me off the guy that moved out of manhattan b/c it was so dangerous and all, and got waist down parylzed when a brick fell on him from 14 floors abobe , by accident, in memphis after the poor soul moved to avoid the "danger".

    Cheers to all.

They should seek reimbursement from the Bank of America for failure to provide adequate security at their ATM.
