Mom takes bullet meant for her son
A 55-year-old Brooklyn mom nearly paid with her life yesterday when she stepped between a gunman and her son, just yards from a school playground full of children.
Police said Mary Pough intervened in a fight involving her 22-year-old son outside her building on Park Place. A bullet that police say was intended for him hit her in the back.
“She’s like a big sister or a mother,” said Linda Watkins, 58, a neighbor who has known Pough for nearly 40 years. “If anybody’s kids that she knew were in trouble, she’d try to speak out or stop them from fighting. She’s like the Big Mama.
”I really hope she recovers, because we need her,“ Watkins added.
The shot, just before noon, left Pough bleeding on the sidewalk near Public School 138, where she’s a volunteer. Dozens of children – most of whom knew her – were in a courtyard outside the Crown Heights school when the gunfire erupted.
Pough was in serious condition late yesterday in the intensive care unit at Kings County Hospital. Cops said Pough, known affectionately in her neighborhood as Ms. Mary, was expected to survive.
”I’m devastated,“ said Pough’s grief-stricken sister, who refused to give her name. ”For someone to do this in the middle of the day . . . it’s shocking.“
A police source said the victim’s son was jumped by four young men or older teens moments before the shooting.
Pough’s son was arrested later for drug possession, police said.
Scores of parents who arrived at the school to pick up their children about 3 p.m. were terrified to hear of the sudden outbreak of violence.
”It’s terrible, really terrible,“ said Linda White, 56, a friend of Pough’s, who came to collect her granddaughter Trenazia, 9. ”The school is right there.“
Trenazia, who was in a first-floor classroom when the bullets flew, said the episode left her frightened.
”I was scared. I saw police and an ambulance.
“I don’t want to come back.”

First the Jews, then everyone else… we’re the canary in the mine shaft. When the cops do nothing when the Jews get hurt, it spills over to the rest of society.

human being…
to add, they also didnt do the crime of being a jew…
wondering
I can’t believe this happened in broad daylight and no one was caught. It takes some time for twenty one bullets to go off. Plus if not one of the twenty one bullets hit the intended target they must have been amateurs. And finding amateurs in broad daylight with guns blazing should not be hard to do.
unfortunately
thats nypd for you
