As Oholei Torah prepares for its upcoming Annual Dinner together with a Ground Breaking Ceremony, we recall the special attention given to this affair in earlier years by the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Then, as now, putting together a dinner to raise funds for the institution was no small feat. Rabbi Dovid Deitsch, who was known as the “Tatteh of Oholei Torah,” would seek out friends and acquaintances from the business world to participate in the festive evening to benefit the yeshiva. Once, R’ Deitsch suggested to the Rebbe that instead of investing so much time and effort into the dinner, he would volunteer to raise the funds from his friends by telephone. “I am prepared to collect the same sum of money without the effort,” he told the Rebbe. The Rebbe replied in the negative: “Ah dinner Darf Men Hoben - A dinner we must have,” he said.

Each year the organizers of the dinner look to bring new vitality and energy to the occasion. This year we honor Mr. and Mrs. Yeshaya and Sarah Boymelgreen, whose abundant generosity and constant support has made this dinner a reality.

Oholei Torah’s Ground Breaking Event And Gala Banquet This Isru Chag Shavuos

The Rebbe replied in the negative: “Ah dinner Darf Men Hoben – A dinner we must have,” he said.

Each year the organizers of the dinner look to bring new vitality and energy to the occasion. This year we honor Mr. and Mrs. Yeshaya and Sarah Boymelgreen, whose abundant generosity and constant support has made this dinner a reality.

The Boymelgreens will be honored with the groundbreaking of the new mikvah project, sponsored in memory of Shaya’s Grandfathers, who perished in the Holocaust r”l. News of the opening of this stunning new mikvah has garnered a good deal of support and excitement in the community and among the thousands of visitors who come through our neighborhood. Many members of the community and the institution have also given generously towards this project.

Executive Director of the institution, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Hakohen Rosenfeld, expresses the gratitude of the administration, staff and students towards the Boymelgreen family for their generous contribution to the mikvah project. According to Rabbi Rosenfeld, the mikva presents a “great zechus, as it will bear the names of the Boymelgreen grandparents–G-d fearing, charitable Chasidim, who were killed al Kiddush Hashem. There is no doubt that their zechus will be with all who participate in this project.”

In the course of this fiftieth year celebration since the founding of the yeshiva, the administration appointed a group of young men who formed a “Young Friends of Oholei Torah Circle”. One of the concerns of the “Friends’ Circle” is to bring the institution to a state of financial stability. As the preparations to the Dinner are in its final stages, many young members of our community are joining in the “Friends’ Circle” with the intention of devoting their energies and efforts towards this institution. During the dinner these men will be honored for their devotion.
