Delivery Men Get Stuck In Elevator for Nearly an Hour

One of the men trapped crawls to safety.

2 men delivering groceries from the Colel Store to an apartment in 675 Empire Blvd got stuck in the elevator for nearly an hour. The elevator, which was known to get stuck, had just recently been repaired and still got stuck, trapping the 2 men in the hot elevator car between the third and second floor.

Apparently 911 had been called but did not respond for nearly a half an hour, for an unknown reason, that’s when resident called Shomrim who arrived on the scene and got FDNY to respond, who in turn broke open the elevator doors and freed the 2 men. B”H both men were ok, and were offered cold water by the residents which they gladly accepted.

there r 2 elevators in this building– 1 has not been working in nearly 6 minths and the other gets stuck frequently. you cant exactly take the stairs when you have a carriage and/or bags/small children– dont 4get this building has 6 floors!

  • to the management

please please get the second elevator working this is getting to all of us already

  • been there

Stop being greedy on the chesbon of the sick elderly and children and maintain your building properly , keep on "taking" from the rich not the poor !

Why don’t the tenants file a complaint with the -buildings department??

  • WORRIED TENANT AT 675

What if it was a child in the elevator when it got stuck….I agree the management MUST have the elevators fixed once and for all and stop just using temporary fixes to get it to work for a day till it has to be fixed again.
Living on one of the upper floors with small kids makes me worry what if its my kids and they don’t know what to do….FIX THEM BOTH NOW AND FIX THEM FOR REAL!!!!

  • Young man

I agree with the worried tenant at 675 I would be worried too if I had children in that building. on a day like yesterday a child stuck in the elevator could get heat stroke in a broken elevator. Its a sakana they should fix those 2 elevators before someone gets hurt.

  • A confused tenant

This is crasy. About 6 months ago both elevators were closed for repairs which they told us would make the elevators stop breaking down so often. 1 elevator is still closed and the other 1 breaks down very often. I am surprised nobody tries to do anything about it.

these two men came to my house to deliver boxes from the grocery store.
it was funny that a half a hour later we got a call that they were stuck and they needed our help. everything happens to our building for some reason.
this sunday we had a fire but not bad.
somebody was baking a cheese cake fro shavuos and it burnt. then the car crash that happened yesterday was infront of our building.
we need our two elevator to be fixed. i cant stand coming home from school and going up the stairs. and remember that this is a brand new elevator.

Oy, vey! Glad we don’t live in an apartment building. Actually we don’t even live in NY. But we do feel bad for you. Hatzlocha to all of you, and may your elevator be repaired once and for all.

Children as well as adults need exercise. If walking up the stairs is a burdon, then find a ground floor unit. Think of the elevator as a luxury item need twice. Once when moving in, and when you are ready to move out. If the elevator works those times, you are truly Blessed!
In the mikva, I saw a Russian man in his late 70’s. I saw him getting dressed without using a towel. I offered him a towel. He said to me, "Handtuch? Vous iz a Handtuch? In other words, it is a luxury. Walk, you will feel better. Remember those fatty milchig meals coming up!

If 911 was called for an emergency situation and 30 minutes later FDNY still had not arrived, the only answer is that 911(which is located at police plaza) did not relay the call to the FDNY dispatchers who are located by the Botanical Garden. FDNY has an average response time in the area of 4 minutes for all emergencies. A complaint should be made.

if you are so upset on fisher why dont you go and rent a apartmant for 1500 dollers a month and you will not have to cry about fisher, who is the only one that got all the bildings for us and dont have to pay the crazy rents so always look on the good side of things , cag somach.

  • fxgmndf

pepole stop complainig mendel shemtov is right if u continue to do so he will raise the rent on new tenants

  • To clarify

Don’t defend Fisher. He stole the buildings for us, he did not buy them on his own. The Crown Heights community gathered funds to purchase these buildings and instead of Fisher buying them in the name of the community, he bought them in his own name and is now collecting all the rent for himself.
Not to mention the fact that only his friends get the section 8 apartments. And if you’re not his friend, no matter if you need it or not, you will not get a section 8.

  • att. all

ppl. i mean really all the ppl. in that building have money they pay maybe 65 dollars a month on rent if you are so worried evryone should put some money in and fix it stop spending money on your clothes and make a better and saffer home for you children

  • angry responder

    In response to "been there":

Just because you live in a section 8 building does not mean you are "poor" it just means you know how to scam off the government by working off the books or having duplicate names. People who work for a living have to struggle much more than you because we get no benifits from the government or breaks from tuition. Very few people who live in those section 8 buildings are actually "poor"!!!!!

  • Not living off the government

Not everyone who lives in one of Fisher’s building lives off the government! My two married friends are living in one of his buildings, pay the same normal $$ for rent that I do (850+) and many days they have NO HOT WATER! No shower, etc…

let me tell u some thing one of these days pepole are going to get into trouble for what ther doing with the sect 8 busniss and it wont be fosher getting into trouble it will be the pepole living in the apt so watch out

  • MEE

people would start shopping in crown heights if all the ganavim will stop over PRICING !!!!!!!!!

  • I Agree

that’s the sad thing. Poor people, Kollel yungerleit, etc. should be allowed into the section 8 bui;ldings, not that certain families can live htere for tens of years saving thousands in rent only to buy their own house and rent it out to others a s a living. Gimmee a break Fisher lets you in if your a friend or party connected.
