The Interschool ‘Shoneh Halachot’ Contest
“Shoneh Halachos” is a program of the ‘Igud Menahalei Yeshivos’ of Crown Heights. The goal of the program is to expand the knowledge of Halacha and Yiras Shamayim of the 8th graders of our community.
The program was founded in memory of HaRav Marlowe A”H whom the Rebbe referred to as “Ish HaHalacha” – a man of Halacha. This years learning and competition was in memory of HaChosid Reb Schneur Zalman Gurary a”h, to whom the interests of the Rebbe were very dear.
Each boy who did well on written tests throughout the year and was a contestant in the Chidon was awarded $100.00 cash.

The finale of the program was a Chidon amongst 49 contestants. A panel of judges led by Rabbi Yitzchok Zirkind asked difficult questions. The audience was astounded at the ability of the students to quote the Halocho almost verbatim. The event was chaired by Rabbi Hershel Lustig – dean of Oholei Menachem. The guests were addressed by HaRav Osdoba and a partner to the program – Rabbi Shimon Aharon Rosenfeld. A D’var Torah was said by Levy Yosef Yitzchok Kraus.
The winners were:
Menachem Mendel Herz, Aba Naparstek — first place
Meir Perman, Menachem Mendel Krinsky, Dovid Yeshaya Zirkind — second place
Sholom Dovber Nemanov, Avrohom Yitzchok Zajac — third place

I was there and it was realy nice. good to see something nice happening in the comunity without any POLITICAL AGENDA. it was true pride. and Im sure this is what will bring moshiach.
