Off-Duty Detective Intervenes in Brooklyn Mugging
A shootout broke-out on Wednesday afternoon in the Crown heights section of Brooklyn after an off-duty detective interrupted a mugging.
Authorities say it happened on the corner of Carroll Street and Utica Avenue in front of a construction site at about 2:15 p.m.
The victim was carrying about $10,000 in payroll for a construction site, when he was attacked by two armed men.
The attackers shot the man, once in the thigh, and once in the buttocks. Just then the off-duty detective walked by, saw what was occurring, identified himself, and that’s when bullets were exchanged.
The suspects fled the scene in a car.
The man who was shot was taken to Kings County Hospital.
One of the suspects is still at large, the other suspect, a 21-year old male walked into Kings County Hospital with gun shot wounds in the leg, where he’s now in custody.
None of the gunshot wounds is considered to be life-threatening.
The off-duty detective was not shot.

Thank G-d the cop wasn’t injured, and took this criminal off the streets.
A special thank you goes to this off-duty detective who risked his life (literally) to save the life of the another. THANK YOU!

Cash Payments Can Be Dangerous
Always need to be careful when paying construction workers, or anyone, in large amounts of cash. Obviously the theives were tipped off as to when pay day was and who would be coming with the cash.

its been allways like this however now its on a website if there was a website in boro park am sure you would have what to reed in crime over ther also its allmost the same check it out as i have a while ago
to cash payments
Not necessarily did the thieves have any clue that their subject was carrying $10,000. As you can see by reading past articles on this site, armed muggins have transpired for nothing more than a mere few dollars ($8.00, $11.00), or if you remember the recent mugging/FATAL beating of an older man for all of $80.00.
The people around here are dagerous, and thank G-D at least one of them is now off the streets.

Just want to say thank you for doing such a great job with reporting such incidences in and around Crown Heights. Checking this site is now part of my daily routine and it helps keeps all of us vigilent in our efforts to avoid dangerous areas/situations. Keep up the good work!
Cash Payments
A non-Jewish contractor once told me he is very careful who he hires because construction is know to be a cash business and it is not uncommon that dishonest workers will tip off their friends as to when pay day is and who is carrying the money. Most probably that is what happened here. The police should investigate if there are connections between the thieves and the workers on that job.
yikes
Kings County Hospital has been busy lately…it’s scary
