The 10,000 people who experienced “Exodus” at the Jewish Children’s Museum during March and early April will certainly not be surprised: owing to huge public enthusiasm, Exodus has agreed to add a full month of encore performances!

Judging from the past shows, Exodus has all the ingredients of a real blockbuster: time travel, water turning to blood, frogs dropping from the ceiling, a splitting sea and matza baking; what’s not to love?

Even though the Exodus organizers added tens of extra shows, after Exodus closed, they were still being inundated by requests for more.

Exodus at the JCM Back by Popular Demand!

What is it that draws so many thousands of visitors to Exodus? Just ask them! Judy Rapoport of Long Island says she knew she had to bring her sixth-grade class to Exodus after seeing it with her family last year. “The kids had such a blast being ‘transported back in time.’ They were so taken by the authenticity of the show; Pharaoh’s palace, the sandy desert, walking through the red sea – it was all so informative; so breathtaking.”

Zev Steinhauser of the museum says the show serves many different functions. “Of course there is the entertainment aspect, but with that comes the wealth of knowledge children gain by participating in Exodus.” He said that there was only so much a teacher can impart to his or her students. “At the end of the day, it’s all within the four walls of a classroom. Some things just have to be experienced. Exodus brings the stories and lessons to life for students to feel and live.”

During their visits, many groups also get to enjoy the permanent exhibits of the Jewish Children’s Museum. These include the popular interactive kosher supermarket, walk-on Shabbat table with a crawl-through challah and touch screen Matzo ball computers.

Beginning May 1 and running through June 4, the museum, located at 792 Eastern Parkway, will be hosting multiple shows every day for groups, and also at least two shows every Sunday for the general public. Reservations can be made by contacting Exodus directly at 718.907.8814 or exodus@jcm.museum
