Friends Build Memorial at Accident Site
HORRY COUNTY, MD [CHI] — The Sun is setting and its getting dark, but two friends of Toby Eagle, 20, of Baltimore, MD are setting up a memorial at the accident site of where Toby eagle a then 20 year old counselor at the Chabad Camp Gan Israel day camp in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, when she was Tragically killed and another was put in critical condition after a one-car wreck in western Horry County while heading east on U.S. 501 near the intersection of Brown Swamp Road on August 3rd 2007 at 6 AM.
The day is Sunday the 9th day of the Hebrew month of Av (July 30st), witch marks two years on the Hebrew Calendar since the tragic death of Toby Eagle. These two dedicated friends spent their weekend paying tribute to the life of Toby on the second anniversary of her death. One of two friends Yossi Morgenstein who put the project together with the help of the second friend Rachel Marshal, Said he spent about $200-$300 and a few days on the project, including making the 11 hour drive down from Brooklyn, New York to Horry County, SC located about 60 miles off Interstate I-95 and about a 30 minute drive from Myrtle Beach, SC where the vehicle was heading on that Friday morning at 6 AM 8/3/07.
“The project started with the idea of driving down to the accident site on the second anniversary of Toby’s death to light candles and pay tribute to her life and wonder full personality and amazing impression she left on thousands of people she inspired by her selfless acts of goodness and kindness” Stated Yossi Morgenstein the project director and a native of Baltimore, MD where Toby was from and her family currently lives.
“The Eagle Family Lives a few blocks away from where I grew up in the small Hassidic ultra Orthodox religious community located in Pikesville, MD. I didn’t know Toby very well but knew the family as family friends and went to school with two of her brothers. When I found out about the accident I was devastated and began to learn what an amazing person she was, and the many inspiring stories about her life. Over the past two years I felt I had to do something to commemorate her life, So when the second anniversary of her death started approaching I deiced to put this project together” Stated Yossi while digging the foundation for the memorial.
The Project started Thursday afternoon when the two friends made the drive down to Horry County, SC. They arrived at the U.S. 501 Exit off I-95. And began the 60 Mile drive down the 501 in search of the exact location of the accident scene with the help of reading the police accident report and matching a photo from the scene of the vehicle at the accident scene rolled over in a corn field on the shoulder of U.S. 501 matching street lights and building structures in the back round of the photo, They were able to locate the exact location where the vehicle rolled over.
Rachel Marshal the second friend who assisted in the project said “I was very close friends with the three girls involved in the crash, and I felt it was the right thing to do to remember her life” when asked what inspired her to take part in the project, while getting emotional watching the memorial being put up. The two Friends Started in Home Depot Buying Tools, Wood, Electric saws, Weather proofing material and other equipment to build the memorial. They then headed to Wal-Mart and bought the remaining things needed for the project
They then headed back to the accident site and began to build. Five to six hours after cutting drilling and weather proofing every thing later the project was complete and mounted in the ground the project was finally complete they then lit candles and Rachel recited a prayer called benching gomel, which Jews say when one flees death, being that she was originally supposed to take part in the trip with the three girls but backed out at the last minute.

Wow, I just want to cry when I think about this story. The Eagle’s are the nicest people, and I only hope Hashem can comfort them in ways that we can not. Rachel, Hashem had rachmonus on you,, and spared you from this horrendous tragedy, and you as an individual make a difference in so many peoples lives. May Hashem protect all of us, and Yossi this was very special of you to take part of. Hashem please bring the Geulah, we cant take this dark golus any more.

Very nice but perhaps the article could have been proof read. It was painful to read all those run on sentences.
But beautiful project.

Stam wrote “may her neshama have the final yeridah down here”, do we no longer wish the neshama an aliya?? Is “a yeridah” the new wish??? Bizarre!
