International Crooks Posing as Chabad Rabbis

A Shliach in Western Europe sent CrownHeights.info and email alerting us of two crooks posing as Chabad rabbis attempting to swindle money out of Jewish communities. The two men, Israeli citizens are Dudu (David) Biton (36) and Ezra Idan (21).

The Shliach wrote

I am writing this email to make you aware of two men who are disguised as frum yidden (in some cases claiming to be Chabad) who recently came to Luxembourg and surroundings to collect money. The older man goes by the name of rav David Bitton.

They collected money here and in the region with some violence to older people etc…

BH when we caught them, they plaid guilty and gave back “all” the money.

Please be cautious when excepting these people into your homes or cities.

A real life Rabbi Jacob :(.

The sad thing is that if Yidden need to stoop to this, they should be referred to proper professional help, assuming that they are not gangsters who are part of the EY underworld which unfortunately operates throughout Europe at this time.

how did those 2 ppl. get those beards? don’t tell me they grew beards in one night,

  • Zerach

The passport was issued 2004. Even a tzig could grow a beard in that amount of time. And i don’t mean the tzig that was in Yeshidus by the Rebbe Rashab.
Number 1- you are correct. Criminals are ill especially psychopaths. To treat them you have to have consent. To get them healthy they have to have a strong will and perseverence. For most, it’s easier to continue making an easy parnossa.
    Moshiach NOW

They even Davven with us, some of them go to mikva every day, the funny think is that must of these dressed up thefts always wear a hat a jacket ALL the time, some even get elected in fake elections, some even open camps, yep, we have our own…no more room for more.

    Do Not Steal1
    Do Not Kill!
    Do Not Be Jealous!

Do not step on your friends boundaries.

These are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.’ (Ex. 21:1)

    Whats the difference?
    Who cares?
If this is how they make a living, then so be it, live and let live. Since when is stealing such a big deal, everybody does it?.

Why is CH.info exposing this to us, do we really want to know, do we really care?

This news is very important and has nothing to do with political issues or the sad fact that a couple of handfuls of Anash have succumbed to the yetzer and are involved in shady business.

The Biton passport is a clear forgery and not a very good one at that. Still, being able to even attempt an EY passport forgery means that these are not just two bit swindlers. I suspect connections to the really very unsophisticated 1930’s style EY “crime families” who unfortunately operate throughout Europe.
We don’t want these people near our homes or our moisdos, plain and simple. And there are plenty of fakes just like them, Jewish and otherwise, who steal money that otherwise would go to legitimate tzedoko. In addition, if they are using the name or identity of Chabad, they can cause a great deal of damage to shluchim and moisdos.

While any tzibbur is made up of tzadikim, benoinim and reshoim, these criminals are not Chassidim who unfortunately fell victim to the yetzer. These are depraved individuals who are sadly beyond any help that most of us are qualified and able to provide.

They have been seen in Milan (Italy) yesterday and today asking around for addresses of shuls, beit chabad and kosher places, driving a nice car.

Today, outside the kosher pizza store, they approached my wife asking for tzeddaka.

”Mr“ Biton said he is collecting money for sick children and ”Mr” Ezra said he was there to help his friend.

I always wonder about such things; after all, it is embarrassing to receive free things – unless one needs it (as R’ Yisroel Salanter explains; that then it is not embarrassing, and if one refuses to take even then, it is only arrogance – as he once explained the concept of a rich person who lost all his money and died of starvation because he did not want to take anything. R’ Yisroel said ‘he died of gaivo – not starvation). But in these cases, it’s hard to understand. Perhaps someone should suggest to them top actually become rabbis. Or maybe they should travel the world to various Jewish cities and as they go from city to city, they could sell pictures and videos of the other cities. I think people would be very happy to buy these. Then they could make a profitable living in a respectable way and truly be helping people at the same time. (But I’ll say a word of Mussar; there will be some who will say ‘I don’t need this; I’ve seen plenty of pictures already’ or ‘they’re available online for free’. Then *they’ll* have to be wary of this and not be discouraged. If one does something positive which helps the world, one does not have to worry if *everyone* is equally interested in his product etc. It says in Shir Hashirim, when Moshiach will reveal himself, each person will be reward according to the preparation that he has done – it will be like the ocean; deeper in some places and shallower in others. Shal-m!

  • god-s right hand man

i am unfamilialar with the particulars of the case yet if tzedaka reliant organizations will reponsibly spend the money willingly donated to them the schar will be realized it is with mixed feelings that donations are given to some mosdos that spend thoughtlessly
marbe tzedaka marbe shalom is a truth
marbe spending isnt the goal of any donation large or small
forgive as you want to be forgiven is the best advice

  • pport control

I haven’t checked other Israelie Passports to confirm or not, but does anyone else find it strange that under Nationality, it says “Israeli” in english, but oon the hebrew side it says “Yisraelit”.. shouldn’t it be “Yisraeli” ?
Both of them are listed as “M” for gender though.
To the commenter suggesting they were forged, perhaps you were right !
Also, I noticed that one of the passports wrre issued in London.

  • should have gone to OT to learn dikduk

    last comment is funny
in hebrew citizenship/nationality is feminine so his ‘ezrachut’ is ‘yisraelit’ it does not mean the pasport holder but the passports holder’s citizenship
no comment weather the passport is forged

  • bless

The reason why it says yisraelit, is bc in hebrew, citizenship is a feminine word. so if you say an israeili citizenship, you say yisraelit- bc its not refreing to the person, rather the citizenship.
