Motzoai Shabbos at around 12:45am 4 shots rang out on President St. between Utica and Rochester right across the street from ‘Frankel Shul’ as well as a few other Jewish families. A male black was shot and killed. This also happens to be right around the corner of where Efraim Klein was shot and killed.

What appears to have happened was a gunman shot at the victim 4 times striking him at least once where he seemed to have made it to the sidewalk behind an SUV where he collapsed. One of the 4 shots hit the SUV shattering the passenger side window and another of the shots seems to have gone through the front window of a nearby house.

This time there was a litter of shell casings and a blood trail. Numerous investigators and Uniformed Police officers swarmed the area, taping off the crime scene and were searching for more clues as to what had happened. This may be the time to note that the NYPD have had not had any progress to report on the Klein case since the night of the murder.

    You should change title to "Black man murdered in Crown Heights" This is a perfectly acceptable title in any newspaper and not racist at all. Yes, it scared me too. Although, of course, every effort should be made to put pressure on the police to investigate this seriously.

    This is shocking. I can’t believe that there is so much crime in our neighborhood. Why is crime in NYC on a rise?

    My heart goes out to the family of the murdered. My g-d grant them only goodness from here on in!

    This looks like a rubout of a gang member or drug dealer yemach shmo. It should not be given coverage and I hope it does not take away from the investigation of the murder of Ephraim Klein HYD.

    Every crime gets a full investigation. It is quite unfortunate that the murderer of Efraim Klein, H’yd, was presumably a random murderer whilst most murderers act for a reason. When there is a reason, you can figure out who had a reason to do that. Let’s hope that this was not another "random" killing and the murderer will be caught quickly.

    I agree with Chaim–Fat Al Sharpton and his scum will be running their mouths shortly and the police will running scared and will find a suspect within a week. Meanwhile, for Ephraim Klein, nothing. Just a Jew. Same thing with Mr. Goldberg–run down erev Rosh Hashanah. Any progress on that? Nope. Just a Jew.

    And this may be an opportune time to join hands in solidarity with our neighbors, black or other, and demonstrate peacefully for an end to this mayhem.

    Demonstrating in unity, and raising awareness, is a vital first step in defeating the enemy or criminal.

    We need to raise our morale and extinguish any hope for the lowlifes. Someone ask a Rav if this should be done.

    What else is new? To me this is just another shooting. Here, on this side of town, I got used to the sound of gunshots. I usually count the shots just because, what else is there to do. I was on the phone when the 4shots rang out and I was scared for a second and then i’m like, ye its only gunshots. I didnt even bother going to the window to see what happened.

    gangs in the area. Klien was probably shot as a mistaken identity of a rival gang. This guy that was shot was probably a rival drug dealer. Many of these violent muggings are gang initiations so that the new young black trash can earn the right to join the gang. We are caught in the crossfire of these turf wars.

    We must get involved to put an end to this:
    1) Pressure the politicians, most importantly Mayor Bloomberg to increase the 71 precinct back to the 300 police that we used to have prior to the cut of 150 a couple years ago.
    2) Report any gang and drug activity to the tip line 888-374-3784
    3) Attend the police meetings every Thurs. night at the school across the 71 precinct. You can get information from Batya Brandel at the community council.
    4) Join the Shmira or Shomrim and let them know that it would be nice if they would finally work with each other and put their politics on the side and put the community first.

    Also every time there are GUN SHOTS whether it is Shabbos or Yom Tov, you MUST CALL THE POLICE. What on earth are wrong with you guys in being used to the gun shots. Maybe if the cops were called every time there would be fewer gun shots and maybe the shooter would get caught?

    The other comments about suddenly more crime in CH is BS too. Why there has been for a looong time crime in CH like there is in other black areas too etc. The fact that this web site is so up to date and all over the place in terms of CH news is cool. Nothing really worse then it was – just you never heard about all the garbage before Webby was born.

    The Boro Park comment also sucks – a chilul Hashem/Lubavitch would be had if we would have behaved in similar fashion. There are other ways which we alll know but we are all picking up cookie crumbs instead of doing tachlis.

    That said, Kan Tziva…….we gotta get our act together.

    I definitely agree with you. I live on this side of town. Mr. Klein HY"D was shot on my corner. When I hear gun shots, I get scared. B/c no matter how many times you hear it…it’s a scary thing. (to girl especially)

    For all of those ppl who are saying that they are so used to it….is ur head all there? What are you saying? What if those gun shots were being shot right in front of your house? Or every night when you go to sleep you hear screaming and gun shots coming from the alley thru ur window? Then you can try to tell me that you’re so used to it that it doesn’t matter. But in truth, as I said before, it doesn’t matter.

    Even if you are used to it for some odd reason, we need to put a stop to this. Do you feel safe living here? I don’t.

    In short, if we don’t do something about this, it’s just going to keep on happening. And CHAS VESHOLOM, LO ALEINU-we don’t know who could be next..

    The shooting was gang related, steming from a fight that happened a few weeks ago with the bloods and crips over a girl on President Street Bet Rochester Ave and Utica Ave. This shooting has no connection to the shooting of Efraim Klein. The block were the guy was shot is well known with the 71 pct and narcotics cause they are always picking up gang members for drugs and guns.
