Tzach’s Official Press Release:

The United States Senate in Washington, D.C. will be opened with a prayer in honor of the 104th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson.

The opening of the United States Senate will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 9:30 a.m., by Rabbi Shmuel M. Butman, Director Lubavitch Youth Organization. United States Senator Charles Schumer of New York is the sponsoring Senator. “It is my pleasure and privilege to sponsor this prayer three days before the Rebbe’s birthday,” Senator Schumer said.

In his prayer Rabbi Butman will emphasize that “the Rebbe reached out to all people and inspired all people throughout the world regardless of race, religion or affiliation to reach a greater level of observance and service.”

He will also stress that “the Rebbe said that this is the last generation of exile and the first generation of redemption and that each person can bring the redemption closer by doing more deeds of goodness and kindness. The Rebbe also encouraged the observance of the Seven Noahide Laws, or the Seven Universal Laws, which are the basis of any decent and civilized society.”

Rabbi Butman will conclude that “in the merit of the Rebbe, we ask You Almighty G-d, to bestow Your blessings on the members of the United States Senate and their families and through them to all the people of the United
States of America for peace, contentment and fulfillment in all their endeavors, in joy, in happiness and in gladness of heart. Amen.”

Grand Mitzvah Tank Parade

A grand Mitzvah Tank Parade of 56 (corresponding to the Rebbe’s years of leadership) decorated RVs (recreational vehicles) will depart Lubavitch World Headquarters, on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, on Thursday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m.

The parade, with a special police escort, will go through the Manhattan Bridge, and will continue North on Avenue of the Americas to 59th Street, East to Fifth Avenue and South on Fifth Avenue to 23rd Street. From there the parade will disperse to 56 different “nerve centers” in the New York metropolitan area. The Mitzvah Tanks will be manned by Rabbis and students and will put on Tefilin with men and boys, give Shabbos candles to women and girls and disseminate material concerning the up coming festival of Passover. “This is in concert with the Rebbe’s activities of outreach,” Rabbi Butman said.

“When there is a gap, the Tank is called upon to ‘bridge the gap,’ reach out and unite.”

your block is one of the easiest blocks to find parking in CH, for two days a year you can suffer like the rest of us, the cause is worth it.
