Mr. Greens Easing Pesach’s financial burden for those in need

Shoppers selecting produce from Mr. Greens wide variety

As Mr. Greens has done in the past years for Pesach, it will be giving away free Fruits and Vegetables to those families and/or Individuals that need it. If you know anyone that needs to benefit from this great deed please get in contact with Devorah Schiener at (718) 771-2418.

It’s nice to see a business that is loyal to its clientele and gives back to the community. Mr. Green’s is known for their superb produce quality, great service and one of the most pleasant places to shop. In a conversation with one of the owners regarding the matter of other stores doing the same for the unfortunate in our community he said that he challenges them to follow suite.

STORE OWNERS IN THE COMMUNITY SHOULD ONLY LEARN FROM MR. GREENS AS ITS CHESED, ITS SERVICE, AND QUALITY RELIABILITY IS FROM OUR BEST ASSETS IN OUR COMMUNITY . I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT ITS THE ONE PLACE IN THIS COMMUNITY THAT STRIVES FOR MORE THEN JUST TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK.
BUT TO MAKE PEOPLE SMILE, AND TO ENJOY THEIR WORK THROUGH TOIL IN GOOD SERVICE .
AND ILL ONLY SHOP THERE BECAUSE OF THAT.

  • that-s really nice

    Kol Hakavod Mr. Greens!
But, everyone should realize that having an article on CrownHeights.info does not make it the only place in C.H. that gives Tzedaka of this kind
B"H Crown Hights is blessed with many incredible people who have been donating, and continue to give, their time, services and goods to members of Crown Heights and beyond throughout the year, even if we do not know about it.
May nobody need such services anymore!

  • mr no4506

Its never to early the shulchan aruch says to start preparing 30 days before the yomtov i beleive the rebbe always said that means the tzedoka for yom tov as well kol hakoved to whomever else is responsible

  • 3a.m.

im not from ch, so i dont really understand wats flopping here. can someone plz explain me lol.

  • A benificiary of Mr. greens Chesed

I feel the need to respond to the "loyal costomer" who feels Mr. Greens should do this in a quiet way. Firstly, Mr Greens has been doing this since it opened, before Pesach and before Tishrei. As a matter of fact before the store actually opened I got my stuff on the corner of Lefferts and Troy from their truck straight from the market. The two boys never made a fuss, or asked anything in return. They never publicized that they did this. Only now, that this site has picked up this info. do people know. Before that only those who needed to know, did. So really, they have been pretty "quiet" all along. Yasher Koach to Shaya and Shloimy!!!!

  • Agudah man

    Reb Shays Great job

From a fellow member of the world famous Agudah Shul!!!!!

I name you lifetime President of the Shul on the next vote!!!!!!!!!

  • Sidi

Mr. Greens in great especially at the mitzvah of tzedaka! Keep it up! You’re seriously awesome!

  • Very nice and Kol Hakavod, BUT,

They can do even a bigger service to the community, if they would have decent prices for thir fruits/veg.’s, for the decent hardworking family also.
One dosent mean he can’t do the other, he can do both!

  • You get more when you pay more

To "Very nice and Kol Hakavod, BUT":

That is what distinguishes Mr. Green’s from the rest: he has quality produts, and yes, sometimes you have to pay a bit more for fruit that does not rot after one day in the fridge…

  • Mr Greens Customer

This is to: "Very nice and Kol Hakavod, BUT"
I am a customer of Mr Greens since they opened.
I have been checking their prices since I started shopping there and very very rarely have i seen their prices higher usualy lower. What I do see is their quality has not gone down since they opened. Other stores in C.H. open with a bang and then change a little while later.
The workers at Mr Greens always help me to my car, the product is always marked with the prices, the store is always clean and everyone smiles all the time. I think they make less than all the other fruit stores because they have nicer quality and smiles on employees faces cost money, you do the math.
They Give all their bad product to needy families.
There are boxes in the back of the store for needy people.
I always hear about the good they do for all over.
Stop the hate and bitterness and look out for C.H.
    TO THE OWNERS:
Keep up the good work, I love your store.

  • You Get What You Pay For Buddy!!!

To Very nice and Kol Hakavod, BUT:

Listen up buddy, I am a loyal shopper at Mister Greens since they started. I learned one thing from them….if you want quality you gotta pay for it. The problem is people want better stuff for less money. They are not running a tzedaka organization although they give a lot, its a bussiness……you get what you pay for buddy! If you want knockoff fruits and vegetables go somewhere else.

  • Mr Greens Shopper

I shop at Mister Greens all the time… love the Store…Service and Quality.

Although he obviously gets paid for his job. I must mention Shmuly Brummel is a big reason for part of their success he really gives all customers great service with a smile all the time.

Keep Up the Great work Mr. Greens.

All those that want to vent and spew negativity…..get a life!

  • To: Thank you! and Shuey

If you have any problems why do you have to publicize names, for the world to read about.
Everyone here is ranting and raving about Chesed, Tzedokah and Mitzvos and you go and start talikng negatively about other people. What happened to Loshon Hora and rechilus. If you really have an issue with who runs the program why don’t you call the Owners and speak to privately about your concerns.

Mrs. Scheiner has been helping people in need for many years before the owners of Mr. Greens were born.

She deserves a thank you for all she does. If you feel uncomfortable with the way she conducts her services. There are other Chesed organizations willing to help people with their YomTov needs.
I wish you Parnoso b’harchovo v’kol tuv selah and you should have no need for their services!

Shuey, It’s nice to see you standing up for your Mother!

  • a cousin of mrs scheiner

I personally know of all the chesed mrs scheiner does on a daily basis. She literally kills herself to go out of her way to help needy families in our community. It is a chutzpah for anyone to post their own nasty, negative comments when this is an article about tzedaka and chesed. As a community we should all strive to be more like mrs scheiner and make it our lifes mission to help those in need.

  • a neighbor

In response to thank you’s comments. I know for a fact that there are people in this neighborhood who would not have meat, chicken and produce if it were not for Devorah Scheiner. She makes sure that children have new shoes every yom tov and even clothes when necessary. She stands outside her house in any type of weather to distribute chicken and meat to neady families . She never talks about who she helps. Mrs. Scheiner, keep up the good work and don’t let ignorance get the better of you. Hashem knows what you are doing.

  • helped by mrs scheiner

as a someone who has been personally helped by mrs scheiner in the past, i feel it is neccessary to write this email and tell everyone how very special she is. not only does she help with food for yom tov but she also makes sure children get new shoes for each yom tov. i can not think of one negative thing to say about her and i am shocked that someone can write such an email about such a wonderful woman. mrs scheiner, keep up the good work.

  • Can-t Fool Me

Mrs Scheiner who is a tzadekes notwithstanding (and who is BH seizing another opportunity to do chessed no matter who or what is behind it – after all the fruit does exist and is being given away), this article is a clear puff publicity piece for Mr Greens and it seems to me that this site has some connection to the store or that it is a paid ad.

I know for a fact that the owner of one of the competing fruit stores does plenty of chessed and helps many (especially those from the former USSR), in a quiet way, behind the scenes.

  • Can-t fool me either

This is definitely a marketing stunt for Mr. Greens. And it’s amazing how it is working. I wish the owners had true chesed!

  • Mister Greens Affilliate

    To "CAN-T FOOL ME:
The piece on Mister Greens is not suggesting that they are the only ones doing chessed in CH.

Im sure "the owner of one of the competing fruit stores does plenty of chessed and helps many (especially those from the former USSR".

However, I am not sure what you mean about "puff publicity". What is the problem if the owner of Mister Greens asked the site to post this piece? And furthermore even if it is a payed piece so what? Are you scared that the other fruit store owner will not be recognized?

The bottom line is: A MITZVA IS A MITZVA.

  • shmuly

    mr. greens brother
to boulevard, chesed is contages as long as you dont have a vaccine against it
thnk you mr. greens for the great work.

p.s. thank you to benzs also he gave hes property for the space needed.

  • hch

When someone does something good, let it be an inspiration for the rest of us to do our share and not an opportunity for making disparaging comments. If another store owner does a comparable mitzvah, wonderful. It’s not a contest to see who does more and we don’t get to vote on how they decide to do it.

Kol hakavod to Mr. Green’s and to anyone else, especially Mrs. Scheiner, who give their time, money, and efforts to help those in need.

  • m.

Last winter even after Devorah underwent knee surgery, she took that cane and continued her wonderful project of handing out chickens and meatsfor yontif. But, let me go a step further she served hot coffees and hot cocoas to the people outside waiting for the truck to unload. Now honestly, how many of us would even think about doing that let alone carry it out?

And while on the subject, this woman arranged for AVRAM FRIED< MORDECHAI BEN DAVID and LIPPA SCHMELTZER to perform for the sick children of our community (Rachamana Litzlan) in private homes to make their lives a little more happier and brighter.

Standing ovations Devorah and may your Mitzvos along with all of ours hasten the Moshiach NOW.
