With the main ballroom designated for family seating, it was packed to the brim, with loads of trees in between tables, families sat down for a full Purim Seudah. Singles were seated separately in the lunchroom. The crowd was entertained by lively music with singing by Yossi Fraenkel and a surprise performance by the world renowned Chazzan Leibel Blesofky who had droped in by suprise!

Rabbi Osdoba came in and addressed the crowd with something about Purim, other distinguished visitors included: Part of our local Police Precinct upper brass namely; Commanding Officer Deputy Inspector Vega, Executive Officer Cap. Shouldis, Lt. Cantwell and Community Affairs Officer Martinos , also attending were R. Segal, R. Bogomilsky, R. Shimon Hertz, Shaya Bomilgreen, and R. Aron Rubashkin and family.

During the visit by the NYPD, Moshe Rubashkin called up Inspector Vega to address the crowd. At one point Moshe Rubashkin said “and anyone that got a ticket this Purim can bring it to the police station and the inspector will void the ticket”, Inspector Vega just smiled.

Im looking at these pictures to see how this is being spinned as packed to the brim. All I can see are a few political people with a few close cronies and some children. This is another case of the Emperor has no clothes. Very typical of the organizer. Unfortunately we are all the losers in this situation. Had Moshe listened to the Psak Din of horav Shwei there would have been hundreds of families who would have attended but coudnt, nyself included. Moshe, dont blame Rabbi Shwei for denying these people a meal that they could have benefited from. You have only yourself to blame for picking a war against the Rov and against Tora and as a result we were all denied an opportunity to celebrate Purim in the proper manner.

  • ELI FROM SOUTH AMERICA

MOSHE RUBASHKIN KOL AKAVOD ! BEATIFUL …ELI FROM SOUTH AMERICA

  • resident who did not attend

it seems like the "Long Live" banner didn’t disturb R’ Shifrin of 770 Mont. St, R’ Leima Minkowitz of B.R., and AA Rubashkin, and Boymelgreen!!!

P.S. now that R’ Bogomilsky came to show his support for this event, do you think he’ll be on the ballot for New Rabbonim?!

  • lost on president st.

Wow. I guess it was N-O-T a "Chillul Ha-Shem" as the doomsayers predicted. Oh well!

  • GREAT PARTY

THIS PLACE IS CRAZY NOW WE HAVE TO PUT TREES BY EVERY TABLE????????

IT SHOWS HOW MUCH RUBASHKIN WILL GO TO DO SOMETHING GOOD AND TRY TO MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY HASHEM SHOULD REWARD HIM WITH A THOUSAND TIMES MORE MONEY AND HE SHOULD CONTINUE TO GIVE TZEDAKA

  • A citizen of Crown Heights

Kol Hakovod to Moishe Rubashkin, Mrs. Mintz and all those who assisted in making this Purim Seuda such a great event. I witnessed the success of this evening. The meal was a true Yom Tov Seuda with all the trimmings. The rooms were full of families who were able to enjoy a Seudas Yom Tov. May Hashem bless Moishe and all his assistants with only Brachas and Gezunt and Nachas and may our community only see the ultimate Simcha of Beas Mosiach Now.

  • Was there (by dancing)

I was not there at the meal but came for the dancing and it was very nice.

The pianist was very good (his name?)

there was also a singer ( a youngerman he had a yellow shirt on) very good. Never heard him before anyone know his name?

  • Y. Herz

To Orthodox Jew: you seem to think the attendees were political people close to Mr. Rubashkin. You were obviousy not there: the room was packed to capacity, with an overflow ballroom If you and all your cronies and Rabbi Schwei showed up (Rabbi Osdoba WAS THERE AND SPOKE), Moshe would have to had rooftop seats to fit you fellows!

  • SHIMON

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT EASIER TO DO IT LIKE LAST YEAR AND AVOID ALL THE ANGER

  • Raffi

    Hey Mr. Orthodox Jew-
you sound like a former politician yourself. were you put up to this by Kranz or Herzog? They are the politicians around rabbi Schwei.

  • Beautiful Event

There was such achdus and Simcha there….. I really was waiting for Moshiach to appear! Next Year in Yerushaliyim!!

  • Ad Shelo Yoda tech

Who cares abt the "long live…" – this was totally wild and good fun – the families had a blast, sorry you missed the fun …there is always next time :)

  • sit near u in shul on shabbos day

this is how you know you are doing good when people fight you
    keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!
    ver nisht nispoel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • from far

Thank you for the pictures. The hadras ponim of Rabbi Osdoba Shlita with the spodik and the trees makes me think about the maamar Ani Ledodi "Melech Basode". Kol hakavod Moshe. Yechi Hamelech.

  • Attutude adjustment...

Whoever even thought about saying how Reb Moshe Rubashkin went against the Torah and Rabbi Shvei, I cannot begin to tell you how FALSE you are!!!
When Moshe said that he’ll have families sit together, only then did Rabbi Shvei negate him. But then Moshe put up a bunch of trees around each table for privacy and had the singles sit separately!
And whoever is FARKLEMPT by saying that what this great man did was wrong – I’m sorry if you misunderstood the situation – Please update yourself with the true facts!
May HaShem bless the Rubashkin family!
Check out the amazing party which the Rubashkins made in Iowa @ http://www.col.org.il/show_

  • MYMR

  • wow

thats funny that the nypd didnt care about how freely the mashke was going around, even more so, they said l’chaim themselves!

  • Shmerl

The place was packed! We see that Rabbi Shwei’s Psak does’t mean a thing! Why is it so?

  • Rebainu

    Great

    now to the elections!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dont be nispaol

a Bais din of 2 is a bais din chutzuf as in the gemorah sanhedrin we need more than just 2 we need another 3 and the situation will be better

Moshy do it now before the next elections which you will win anyway!!!!!

  • ahavas yisroel

    TO MYMR:

  • Dovid

The Tree Mechitza is an insult against Rabbi Osdoba because according to Rabbi Osdoba no Mechitza at all is needed.

Their is actually a 3 or 4 way Machlokes amongst Rabbonim on this:

    1) According to Rabbi Osdoba you don’t need any Mechitza at all.

    2) According to Rabbi Reitport from B.P., you need at least a Mechitza of Trees.

    3) According to Rabbi Heller, a Mechitza of Trees is a joke and not a Mechitza at all – "Whom are they kidding" Rabbi Heller asks.

    4) According to Rabbi Schwei. you need a Real, Regular Mechitza, as we do by every Chasuna.

If Rubashkin respects Rabbi Osdoba, why did he go against Rabbi Osdoba’s psak that requires no mechitza AT ALL and no trees.

It seems that Rubashkin put trees because he knows that many people wouldn’t come and that most people wouldn’t rely on the "Heter of Rabbi Osdoba" for "no Mechitza at all".

Kol Hakovod for Moshe Rubashkin for being Machmir and respecting the vast majority of Rabbonim who disagree with Rabbi Osdoba’s Heter!

  • un- official photographer at the banquet

to MYMR & RB i think you should look at what ahavas yisrael wrote b/c he’s exactly right and (p.s.) just so you know someone( one of the rubashkins) handrd me the camera and told me to take of EVERYTHING!! And you know what? i DID!!!! SO…if you write your address i’ll see if i can send you all200 of them! have a nice life.!!

  • correction

to dovid , rubashkin doesn’t mean to ”disrespect”any one he just wants to make a nice time for every one who;s willing

  • Noone

All this bickering, name calling and ego blasting is so sad, it shows us why our wonderful community will never stand together, not even when a member of its own get murdered, and what are we arguing about?! Giving people a place to eat!!! Tzedakah! We are fighting how someone else should be giving his Tzedakah! Who are all of you to even open your mouths, until you throw such a party you have no say!

    Ok back to topic!

Why make a public meal rather then give people money to make their own? Well it’s a common misconception that this meal is made just for people that ‘don’t have’, it’s for everybody! Then why attend if you have? Well think about it, the Simcha of a Purim meal isn’t sitting alone at home with your wife and one kid, its sitting with a crowed with music and singing with people milling about around you and some even braking out in dancing. (My personal opinion).

I think that the whole thing was blown way out of proportion, R. Schwei didn’t have to release that letter rather they should have sat down behind closed doors and discussed the matter, rather then the 2 Rabonim taking their disagreements out to the street.

resident who did not attend: As you can see, when people true mean lies in the betterment of the people, you can overlook ‘certain things’.

mymr: The meal isn’t just for those who ‘don’t have’ its for anyone and everyone.

RB and Eli: I think that the reason you aren’t seeing pictures here of all the other people attending, is that true there probably are those that ‘had’ to be at the meal if they wanted to have one, but if a photographer would come and stuff a camera in their face, that would be really mean and would discomfort the person[s] greatly. I would think a commendation should be given to Webby for being so sensitive to the matter (as he almost always is)

  • Moishe Dovid

    A few comments.

The truth is that had Rabbi Shwei not said anything about the mechitza therewould never had been any sort of mechitza.

Had Rabbi Shwei not said anything it is quite possible Rabbi osdoba would never have come and spoken.

The truth is had Yanky Herzog made the seuda without a mechitza Rabbi Osdoba would have assured it.

Now that Rubashkin made it and taking into consideration the free meat delivered to his house weekly (together with the shipments of milk and baked goods) coulpled with the free bungalow of course he supported it.

  • Salute

Was Yossi Jacobson there? No pictures of him and no report of him speaking. Atleast someone is a Yerei Shomayim and was not nispoel from Moshe! Y.Y.J. I salute you!!!
