Minivan Window Broken Into On Eastern Parkway

At around 11:30pm yesterday volunteers at the Oholei Torah PTA were making the Shalach Manot for today in the new wing of Oholei Torah, when one of the volunteers heard her car alarm go off right outside, but didn’t pay much attention to it. When she was leaving about a half an hour later she noticed that one of the window had been smashed.

The police were called, and a report was filed, afterwards going through the car to see if anything was actually stolen, only to find that nothing had been taken.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you all to take care and not leave anything in your car they may give a reason to smash your window, and if you are the victim of such an incident, please don’t be lazy and inform the police and file a report. A crime not reported is a crime that didn’t happen.

    My brothers van was broken into Motzi Shabbas in front of 770 Empire Blvd. Nothing was taken but there was a rock inside the car that I believe they used to crack open the key hole to steal they car.

    This type of thing is happening too much, and very hard to catch. The Community should coordinate placing surveillance cameras on every block in Crown Heights, to deter and help catch these type of thugs and lower crime.

    u think they can afford to put cameras on every single block? and ummm where exactly r they gonna put them, right next to the mezuzas?

    actually the same happened to my friends car , and a cop was even circling the block and they did not see

    Yes, I think our Community could easily coordinate putting surveillance cameras on every block if we wanted to. There are some shabbos and legal issues that might need to be explored. It’s a surveillance video that the police turned to in trying to investigate Efraim Klein’s murder. If there had been more cameras out there the police might have had more to go on in that and all crimes in Crown Heights.

    i know someone who’s car was broken in to recenly this is really getting bad it’s probably all the same group of kids, in this case they didn’t either steal much, just something small not too valuable.somethings gotta be done, i like the idia of the camaras……….
