
Chabad Of Riverdale Celebrates Its 14th Anniversary
Over 300 people attended, last Motzei Shabbos, the 14th Anniversary Dinner of Chabad Lubavich of Riverdale, to honor Rabbi Mordechai and Rebbetzin Rochel Altein, Ezra and Sherry House, Dr. Barry and MJ Kanner, and Joanna Lora. The celebration took place at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx.
The evening included a video that recapped the history and activities of Chabad in Riverdale and an emotional award presentation. For entertainment, four close friends of Chabad sang some tunes about Chabad and the Shemtovs. Then Dr. Judah Schorr captivated the audience with a hilarious speech.
Rabbi & Rebbetzin Altein were honored with the lifetime achievement award; they are pioneers in bringing yiddishkeit to the Bronx in 1944. Thanks to them, thousands of Jewish boys and girls were fortunate to receive a strong Jewish education.

Ezra and Shayna House, the guests of honor, were honored for their support and commitment to Chabad and the greater community.
MJ and Barry Kanner were honored with the “parents of the year award.” Their son, Benny, attends the Chabad pre-school, and MJ is very involved with the parents’ association. They are dedicated to the Chabad ideals of bringing the message of love to all.
Joanna Lora was honored with the community service award for her total dedication and commitment to Chabad of Riverdale and for her ability to be professional, patient and courteous to all who call or come to Chabad.
The ambiance, the decor, the catered dinner by Foremost Caterers, and the special Chabad warmth and love made the evening a most memorable experience for the entire Riverdale community.
Chabad Lubavitch of Riverdale thanked everyone that took part in making its fourteenth anniversary celebration the most successful ever.
