I was fortunate to be part of Rabbi Gordon’s shul in Maplewood. He was a man of great integrity and bitul. He embodied
the true Chassid; and yet he made you feel at ease.As a rule he never got involved in machlokes; on the contrary, as chaplain of Beth Israel and St. Barnabus Hospital of New Jersey, he used all of his koach to do chessed and the Rebbe’s Mivtzoiym. This is a great man we should all try to emulate.I invite others to please use this forum to share stories about this special man.

As a ”transplant“ to Crown Heights, from Maplewood,NJ, where Rabbi Gordon, A”H, was the shliach (after his years in Newark and elsewhere), I was extremely fortunate to have been among those who were makaruv via his shul.

Rabbi and Mrs. Gordon (may she enjoy lange, gesundedikeh yahren!) took me under their wings and showed me so much patient guidance and education, for which I can never thank them enough.

We were so fortunate that Rabbi Gordon attended our l’chaim, only a few short months before he was niftar.

When I was a regular at his “Ahavath Zion” shul, he even urged me (a woman) to attend the study shiurim held by the daily minyan before davening. This was despite the discomfort of some of the older gentlemen in attendance, who were accustomed to this being a “men only” setting.

There are so many great “Rabbi Gordon” stories, and they’re ALL TRUE!

Thanks, Webby, for including the option to download the tribute book.
