According to the Fire Chief on the site that I spoke to he told me the cause of the fire although not officially yet as FDNY is still making the official determination, it was caused by an exploding e-bike battery stored in the house. Insurance companies will not pay for damage caused by stored bikes inside a home This should be a lesson for all.

Spoke to the fire chief on the scene and he told me that the likely cause of the fire was a plugged-in electric bike whose battery exploded while charging from the wall. This is at this time not official as it was still under investigation. This is bad news for the homeowner as insurance does not cover electric bike fires as their batteries are considered substandard.
