Flashback: Fire Consumed Carroll St. Building in 1977
Thirty five years ago, almost to the day, in the late summer of 1977, a fire broke out at 1365 Carroll Street and destroyed most of the building.
At the time, the apartments were still standard rentals; it was after the fire that then-building owner Reb Dovid Fischer converted the building from apartments to condominiums and sold them to individuals.
Fast forward to 2012: for the second time this summer the same building has gone up in flames. Both times, miraculously, all residents escaped unharmed.
