Fire Burns Two Houses on Maple Street

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a blaze on Maple Street that was quickly engulfing an entire house and began extending into the attached home next door. Swift action prevented serious fire damage to the second home, but the first one sustained heavy damage.

The fire broke out at around 2:45 Sunday afternoon inside 773 Maple Street, which is between Troy and Schenectady Avenues. All occupants got out of the house and thankfully there were no injuries.

It took firefighters a short time to have the blaze under control, but much longer to ensure that it was completely out – in order to prevent a flare-up after they left.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
