Car Bursts Into Flames on Route 17

SULLIVAN COUNTY [CHI] — A minivan traveling west-bound on New York Route 17 near exit 113 suddenly burst into flames Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 4:00pm. The fire quickly engulfed the entire vehicle while a first responder attempted to quell the flames with a fire extinguisher to no avail.

Rescue personally reported that there were no reported injuries and all the occupants managed to get out of the car.

Traffic was backed up on the 17 for hours.
