CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Another set of manholes exploded this afternoon, this time on Kingston Avenue and President Street. With the hotter summer days the demand for more air conditioning seems to be taxing on the ConEdison electricity grid, causing numerous failures around the city.
Once again no injuries were reported and the fire department responded and contained the scene until ConEd emergency crews responded, and began working on replacing the damaged wires.
Protect yourselves and your valuables, avoid walking or parking on manhole covers, and report any smoke condition to 911 right away!

Thank goodness my electricity went back to full force last night about 10pm. We were very thankful not to be without any electricity at all but it’s not too fun when there isn’t enough power to run the ac and it’s 90 degrees!
