Suspicious Fire in a Vacant Apartment
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] – Friday afternoon at around 2pm, a fire was started in an empty apartment. Located on the 4th floor of 1622 President Street, a Jewish owned building, on the corner of Schenectady Avenue. The apartment building has 46 residential units.

The smell of the fire filled the street and 911 was called. FDNY responded within minutes and began battling the fire. The fire is believed to have started out in the kitchen area and appeared to be caused by faulty electric cables. A short while later the fire was listed as under control.
Fire Marshalls were ordered by the battalion chief, due the suspicious nature of a fire breaking out in a vacant apartment. There were no reported injuries.
