Last night [Thursday] at around 8:00pm a fire broke out in a Jewish home in Flatbush, the fire started out on the second floor of the house and then broke out in the basement of the house as well then spreading to the whole house. Due to the winds and the heat of the fire the house next door also caught fire.
While fire fighters were fighting the flames in these 2 houses, another fire broke out across the street and according to fire officials, the 2 incidents did not appear to be related and both fires appear to have started due faulty electrical wiring. The incident brought over 40 fire engines and reporters from major news stations, including CBS and Brooklyn-12.

The cold, blustery conditions outside did little to help firefighters in the Marine Park section of the borough Thursday night as high winds spread flames to nearby buildings.
Terrified residents described how the quick-moving blaze tore through three houses around 8 p.m.
“The cops started banging on the doors and saying you gotta get outta the house now,” one person said.
Two neighboring homes on East 18th Street and Avenue R were engulfed, and then another home across the street also went up in smoke and flames.
“At first it started like an explosion,” witness Deana Kaygorodova said. “A pop then it was just plain fire.”
Added fire victim Marcy Epstein: “We think that embers from the other house blew across to our house and it started to burn.”
The Red Cross is already aiding and sheltering three families whose homes were extensively damaged. The blaze raged, fueled by whipping winds, making it tough to fire.
“We have fire at several buildings,” Deputy Fire Chief Wayne Cartwright said. “We had a heavy commitment of personnel to control the fire in three separate buildings.”
