Apartment Fire in a Large Residential Building

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — At around 7:00pm Tuesday evening a fire broke out inside one of the apartments on the 5th floor of 763 Eastern Parkway, a six story semi-fireproof building which houses over 130 residential units and spans from Eastern Parkway all the way back to Lincoln Place.

Fear a panic spread as rumors that there were people trapped in the burning apartment, which thankfully turned out not to be true. FDNY responded and had the fire, which was confined only to one apartment, under control within minutes and completely out soon thereafter.

Hatzalah and Shormim responded to the scene as well to provide support in case needed.

The building is home to both non-Jewish and Jewish residents, who make up a minority of the group.

After putting out the fire a thick cloud of smoke filled the hallways of the 5th floor, after properly ventilating it residents were allowed to return to their apartments.

    It was very scary ! Seeig flames come out of an apartment above you is no day in the park.

    Fire was @ 763 Eastern Parkway. The Jews might still be a minority in the building but 30% of 130 is a big number. It has become a very jewish building over the last few years.

    I think we over populate them. We may occupy fewer apartments than them but we have way more kids than them too.

    My family was the first Jewish family to move into this building over 20 year ago.

    763 EP and 1010 lincoln pl. are the same building there are entrances on both sides EP and LIncoln! oh and its a really nice building! with many jews and lots of nice non jews aswell

    of course the management do not rent to new goyim. they trash the apartments, and stay forever, whereas yidden keep moving in and out every few years allowing the landlord to keep raising the leases and rent and continue to milk the crown heights community

    Its actualy 763-5 and 1010 Lincoln place.
    Four years ago my familys apartment went up in flames too.
    For me looking out the window seeing blaring fire was very scary and traumatizing. I lost my temper over it and went off on a few. All I can say now, is B”H we are all fine and I owe a great big thank you to the ones who were standing behind me even though I didnt know it. And a big appology to the ones who I lost it on, In my moment of fear and worry.

    Baruch Hashem that everyone was ok! I used to live in this building and there was a fire scare once before – irresponsible goyim could not use their oven properly. It is hard being so close to people that are so untrustworthy on such a basic level.

    May I take this opportunity to recommend that EVERYONE buy a small fire safe and keep your families important documents in it – you never know what can happen in this world.

    OK OK chill out. Its not just irrisponsible goyim. My place went up in a blaze too, and Im told I have more Chabadnik running through my blood than many. Its an old building, the wiring is a mess and needs to be replaced. I was just in the apartment that went up in flames. Innocent victims ! The fire started downstaires. I also just gave the land lord aheads up mit mine yidishe kup.

    I’m not in the photos. bec. I was preparing my family just in case. But they told us absolutely no need to evacuate.
    Don’t blame the “stupid goyim”. The yidden also have the super fixing things that legally he’s not allowed to do. We had a gasleak a few years ago, bec. he didn’t attach the gas correctly.
    And what about all the menorah fires that happen around the world every year? Who’s at fault there?
