Crown Heights’s 71st Precinct Release Statement Announces Increased Presence Over Purim

As the community prepares to celebrate Purim, we extend our sincere wishes for a safe and joyous holiday to all those observing. Purim is a time of celebration, unity, and tradition, and we respect the importance of this holiday within the community.

While celebration is encouraged, public safety remains our highest priority. We recognize that alcohol consumption is a customary part of some Purim festivities. However, any acts of violence, disorderly conduct, property damage, or behavior that threatens public safety will not be tolerated.

The 71st precinct will maintain an increased presence throughout the holiday period. Any violence or criminal behavior stemming from excessive drinking or otherwise will be enforced to the fullest extent of the law. Individuals found engaging in assault, vandalism, public disturbances, or other unlawful activity will be subject to arrest and prosecution.

We encourage residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and report any unsafe activity. By working together, we can ensure that Purim remains a meaningful and safe celebration for everyone in our community.

For emergencies, please call 911. For non-emergency concerns, please contact the 71st precinct directly.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation and commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all.
