Chanukah Gift from Sanitation Dept

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Wednesday morning, the residents of Montgomery street received a gift from the city on the first morning of Chanukah, in the form of a sanitation inspector banging hysterically on doors, threatening that he will be ticketing any resident, of the generally tidy street, who has leaves in front of their house or 18″ into the street within an hour and a half when he returns.

The residents couldn’t quite make heads or tails of the inspector or his threats and were outraged at his conduct and giving residents only an hour and a half during a work day to further clean the already clean sides and gutter which is supposed to be cleaned by the sanitation department them selves. It seems that the Police Dept. aren’t the only ones with quotas of ticket to fill. While hastily cleaning the leaves in the street one resident commented, “and happy Chanukah to you too Mayor Bloomberg!”

"banging hysterically on doors" that’s just hysterical! poor guy must have OCD… @ least the streets r clean now. maybe our dear inspector will be so kind as to help himself to some CH hospitality and have something to eat off our newly CLEAN streets. …

Could someone send a link to where we could write letters to the Mayor online what we could do now is call 311 & we can tell Bloomberg what we feel how crazy this is, and also we should complain about the high crime in Crown Heights & that we need much more police patrol, so everybody it will only take a few minutes but it will be very helpful call 311 & tell them that ‘We want more police to patrol the 71 Precinct in Crown Heights because there is a lot of crime"

Somebody should get that Inspector’s name & we could file him for harassment, yes what he did is pure harassment, he was not doing his job nicely, also if this happens again then we have a chance to get his name on his badge or something so keep your eye’s open.

Who is he going to ticket exactly ? This isn’t garbage this is leaves a form of nature from the Ribono Shel Olam..Don’t take the next comment to seriously but If anything he should ticket the police department for not taking out the garbage on the streets…LOL LOL!!

  • stop the hate

I think its very nice of him to give an hour and half warning, he could have just given out tickets to every house. you can see from your pics that there is major piles of leaves all along the st.
its about time people cleaned their side walks of leaves and snow, more then just 12", so those who have a strollers can actually get through.

Ya everyone call 311 & request that the city should give the 71 precinct more police officers.

i think the inspector was right, today thrusday morning it was an ice skating rink on my street, noone bothers to salt their sidewalks or anything!!!
its funny how u can tell a goys house from a yid, by the shoveled walkway!

  • LeaveLevyAlone

lol lol this is too funny. heck when the last time so many of us were happily picking up our leaves in our jammies?? I love crown heights :)

most likely scenerio- he had a lot of workers not show up that morning, and he himself was about to be inspected. we have to complain to the city- this is their job, and you can’t have people cleaning the streets on a moment’s notice.

To report a Sanitation Inspector, you need his name, the car number and the color of his uniform (blue or green). Once you got that, call 311.

As im not from CH I am finding this very amusing…surely the sidewalks belong to the government, not the owners of the houses, in which case its up to them to clean them…I would have threatened to call the cops on him…and what about all the people who were already at work?? after all some of us do get up early…
And if I can say so, it is so much fun to walk through and crunch the leaves!!!!

  • puzzled on Crown street

So you clean up the leaves & then the wind blows more down…how are you supposed to stop that? Stand & threaten the trees?

This is a waste of our time. The inspector is a waste of taxpayers $$$.

as i seefrom the comment that the p. would like to call 331 on him. what i thing is that they should do because he come banging hysterically on doors, so it’s not his problem of doing it but the Sanitation Deptartment, and remember
he could of just writen a ticket without a warning!
so be happy about it and not makethe small problem seem big problems
