CHJCC Announces New Urgent Care Resource for Crown Heights, with Special Shabbos and Yom Tov Accommodations
The Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC) today announced the availability of a new urgent care resource for the Crown Heights community, responding directly to concerns raised at the recent Community Town Hall regarding access to medical care, especially during off-hours and Shabbos and Yom Tov.
ModernMD Urgent Care, located at 436 Utica Avenue at the corner of Empire Boulevard, is now serving Crown Heights and surrounding neighborhoods with walk-in, non-emergency medical care for adults and children. The location is within close walking distance of Central Crown Heights, Remsen Village, and East Flatbush.
A central feature of this announcement is ModernMD’s accommodation for Shabbos and Yom Tov visits, when access to medical services can be particularly challenging for observant community members. For Shabbos and Yom Tov visits, patients are able to receive needed medical care immediately, while administrative matters such as paperwork, insurance processing, and co-payments are handled through follow-up on the next business day.
Commenting on the importance of this development, Shmuly Rosenstein, Acting Chairman of the CHJCC, said: “This walk-in urgent care directly responds to the community’s need for accessible medical care close to home, particularly during Shabbos and Yom Tov.”
ModernMD operates as a walk-in urgent care center, with no appointment required, and maintains extended hours to support community access. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
Most major insurance plans are accepted. For patients without insurance, the self-pay rate is $175. Community members are strongly encouraged to pre-register online in advance to ensure a smoother and more efficient visit when care is needed.
The CHJCC also expressed appreciation for the rapid collaboration that made this resource available, noting gratitude to the management of ModernMD for their responsiveness and for making these accommodations available so quickly.
