Taking Pride in Our Community: Neighbors Come Together for Street Clean-Up and Daffodil Planting

Residents of all ages are invited to come together for a neighborhood street clean-up and daffodil planting as part of a community effort to beautify Crown Heights and strengthen local pride.

The event will take place on Sunday, January 11, from 12:00–1:30 PM, and is open to adults, kids, and neighbors of all ages. Participants will work side by side to clean local streets and plant daffodil bulbs, helping create a brighter, more welcoming environment for the spring ahead.

This event is part of The Daffodil Project, a citywide New York City initiative that plants daffodils across the five boroughs as a living memorial to the victims of September 11, 2001. Each flower serves as a symbol of remembrance and hope for future generations. This is a joint project between The Local Development Corperation, One Crown Heights, and IDCC (Interborough Development and Consoltation Center).

In addition to hands-on volunteering, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about planting flowers, enjoy hot drinks and refreshments, and connect with fellow community members in a positive, family-friendly setting.

Community members should meet on the corner or St. Johns and Kingston and reach out to  learn more or donate supplies. Teachers are welcome to bring their entire classes – just let us know.

This event reflects a shared commitment to caring for our streets and strengthening our community—one block at a time.
