CHJCC: Neighborhood Heating Fund Reopens Temporarily

Dear Community Members,

The Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC) is pleased to share an important update regarding emergency heating assistance available.

Neighborhood Heating Fund – Temporary Reopening

The Neighborhood Heating Fund (NHF) — administered and funded by National Grid — has reopened for a limited time to support eligible customers.

Emergency Grants Available

$200 for National Grid heating customers

$100 for NYC cooking-gas customers (Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island)

Who Is Eligible?

National Grid customers enrolled in the Energy Affordability Program, with at least $1 in arrears

Federal employees, contractors, and active-duty military affected by the shutdown, with at least $1 in arrears

Please Note: Grants issued during this temporary period will NOT count toward next season’s one-grant limit.

Required Documents

Photo ID for all household members

One month of income proof

Most recent National Grid bill
