Vaad Hakohol: Heavy Rain Causes Road Warping on Kingston Ave — Crews Respond Swiftly

Yesterday’s heavy rains in New York City caused unexpected setbacks along the ongoing Kingston Avenue construction corridor. The packed dirt beneath the temporary asphalt installations became saturated and settled unevenly underground, leading to noticeable warping and instability in the road surface.

Baruch Hashem, despite the sudden deterioration, no injuries were reported. A few minor mishaps occurred, but thanks to the quick thinking of pedestrians and drivers alike, more serious consequences were avoided.

As a precaution, city crews have fully closed Kingston Avenue from Eastern Parkway through President Street, including the Union Street intersection, while the issue is being assessed and repaired. The team is already on-site and working diligently to stabilize the road and reestablish safe conditions.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation during this time. Updates will be provided as soon as we have more information on the repair timeline.
