Record Number of Beis Hamikdash Shiurim in Crown Heights Shuls

Chassidim throughout Crown Heights are embracing new opportunities to fulfill the Rebbe’s directive to learn about the Beis Hamikdash during the Three Weeks.

The Midrash Tanchuma (Vayikra 14) relates that when Hashem instructed the Navi Yechezkel to teach Klal Yisroel — who were in Golus — about the design of the future Third Beis Hamikdash, Yechezkel questioned, “What can they accomplish with this knowledge? Let them wait until they return from Golus, and then I will inform them.”

Hashem responded: “Should the construction of My House be neglected because My children are in Golus? Learning about the design of the Beis Hamikdash is equivalent to its actual construction. Go tell them to study, and as a reward for their learning and occupation with it, I will consider it as if they actually built the Beis Hamikdash!”

Daily shiurim on the halachos of the Beis Hamikdash are taking place in numerous Crown Heights shuls. These shiurim are coordinated by the Lubavitch Youth Organization, in accordance with the Rebbe’s directive to increase the study of Beis Hamikdash-related subjects during the Three Weeks.

Following the Rebbe’s hora’os, the study encompasses sources in Torah Shebichsav — including the parshiyos in Torah discussing the Mishkan and perakim 40-43 from Yechezkel describing the Third Beis Hamikdash — together with the Masechtos of Tamid and Midos in Mishnayos detailing the Second Beis Hamikdash, and as codified by the Rambam in Hilchos Beis Habechirah.

An additional initiative features daily Siyumim scheduled throughout the Nine Days.

The Lubavitch Youth Organization has prepared an elegant sign to be displayed in each participating shul. The sign includes a chart where people can sign up and select their preferred Siyum day.

This initiative responds to the Rebbe’s encouragement for Siyumim to be conducted each day of the Nine Days, following the custom of the chassidim of the Baal Shem Tov. The Siyumim enable us to experience increased joy in a manner permitted during the Nine Days, and to hasten the Siyum on the golus immediately!

All activities related to the Three Weeks and Nine Days this year are dedicated l’iluy nishmas the longtime director of Tzach, Rabbi Shmuel Menachem Mendel ben Horav Schneur Zalman Butman a”h.
