BDE: Mrs. Esther Serebryanski, 95, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Esther Serebryanski OBM. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she passed away on Thursday, 14 Tammuz, 5785, in Crown Heights.

She was 95.

She was born in New York To Rabbi Mosheh Mordechai and Mrs. Basya Magnes. Her father was a Rav and Talmid Chochom, and her mother was a brilliant and wise woman who taught and gave shiurim. Mrs. Serebryanski was deeply impacted by her Torah chinuch. Pirkei Avos in particular had a strong impact on her approach to life. She was one of the first editors for Der Yiddishe Heim.

Upon her marriage to R’ Chaim Serebryanski, she moved to Australia with the Rebbe’s bracha. She supported her husband in all his community work that he did, and had a truly open home. She taught and mentored many people in the community, and raised 9 children. She was beloved by many. Her wise advice, kindness, her witty sense of humor, her joyous laughter, her songs, poems and writings brightened the world and helped so many people.

She is survived by her children, Rabbi Yossi Serebryanski – Canarsie, NY, Rabbi Mendel Serebryanski – Melbourne, Australia, Mrs. Bashi Dalfin – Boro Park, NY, Rabbi Binyomin Serebryanski – Melbourne, Australia, Rabbi Eli Serebryanski – Toronto, Canada, Mrs. Chana Raichik – Gaithersburg, MD, Rabbi Mosheh Serebryanski – Gold Coast, Australia, Mrs. Doonie Mishulovin – Los Angeles, CA, and Mrs. Miriam Simon – Crown Heights, NY.

She is survived by her sister Mrs. Rochel Fogelman – Worcester, MA, (Please respect that Mrs. Fogleman will not be informed of her sister’s passing), and her brother Rabbi Yehoshua Magnes – Yerushalayim, Eretz Yisroel, and Ms. Rikki Magnes – Yerushalayim, Eretz Yisroel.

She is predeceased by her husband, R’ Chaim Serebryanski OBM.

The levaya will take place on Friday, at 10:45amfrom 770 Eastern Parkway.

Followed by levaya at Montefiore Cemetery.
