More Than 6,000 Con Edison Customers Without Power In Central Brooklyn
Con Edison crews are working through the heat to restore service to more than 6,000 customers in Brooklyn, as the conditions continue to place a strain on electric delivery equipment.
The outages are scattered throughout the borough, and Con Edison has also lowered voltage in certain areas in Brooklyn to take stress off equipment.
Con Edison is distributing dry ice for customers whose service has been affected. The distribution is at Public School 189, 1100 East New York Ave., and the dry ice will be available until 10:30 p.m. or supplies run out.
Con Edison has asked customers not to use energy-intensive appliances such as washers, dryers, and microwaves until crews complete repairs. The company also asks customers to limit unnecessary use of air conditioning. If you have two air conditioners, use only one and set it to the highest comfortable temperature.
The company also asks customers to refrain from charging their electric vehicles unless necessary until repairs are made.
