Shomrim Updates on “Protest” As the Last Small Groups Disband

by CrownHeights.info

A small group of approximately 50 pro-Palestine “protesters” which gathered outside the Barclay’s Center Monday evening have dispersed home after the NYPD refused to allow them to march into Crown Heights.

Crown Heights Shomrim Coordinator Rabbi Mendy Hershkop briefed CrownHeights.info after the group marched from the Barclay’s Center towards Crown Heights accompanied by officers of the NYPD. Once they reached the area of Grand Army Plaza the officers kept the marching group away from Eastern Parkway, directing them down Flatbush Ave towards Lefferts Ave. There the officers again refused to allow them to march into Crown Heights, dispersing them.

Kingston Ave remains closed as a security precaution as officers plan to remain in the Crown Heights area with a bolstered presence over the next few hours to ensure that the group does not reform.

Crown Heights Shomrim has remained actively patrolling the community this evening, and will remain vigilant throughout the night as well.
