Everything That is Precious is Worth Protecting
We see our shechuna as most precious and worthy of the highest level of protection.
From break-ins to missing children to violent assaults on our neighborhood’s streets, when the call comes in we drop everything and run. We know that the person on the other end of the line is a fellow community member in distress and one of our highly trained volunteers is on the scene within 2-3 minutes to calmly and effectively diffuse and rectify the situation.
In addition to the emergency response services that Shomrim provides, our regular presence on the community streets for the past 32 years has contributed to a much safer environment for the people living in the Shchuna.
The Shomrim volunteers serve a communal guardians, one that is committed to serving and protecting the Shechuna and its inhabitants 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The expansion of Crown Heights in all directions has called for Shomrim to expand their services as well so that they would have the sufficient manpower and equipment to answer the increased call volume in a timely and efficient manner.
There are currently 40 active volunteers who are ready to respond at a moment’s notice. They are equipped with two way radios and basic rescue materials. No matter the time, no matter the weather, no matter how dangerous the circumstance may be, they are ready to drop everything as soon as the call comes in.
Volunteers relay and receive important information via a robust communication system that is constantly evolving to better serve the community’s ever changing needs. They rush to the scene using either the Shomrim fly car, their own personal vehicle, or one of the ten scooters that remain on standby at all times.
