Security Tightening After Assassinations in the Middle East

Following multiple high profile assassinations attributed to Israel, security is being tightened in Jewish communities across the globe, including here in Crown Heights.

In a message to the community, the NYPD highlighted that there are no credible threats or alarms at this time targeting New York City, and extra security is being placed at sensitive locations just to be vigilant in regards to the recent events in Israel.

The concern is minimal for the Jewish communities of New York City, but the threat of retaliation for the assassinations is real.

Iran’s supreme leader Khomeini has already vowed a direct strike on Israel in retaliation for the assassination of one of Hamas’s highest political leaders, Ismail Haniya, in a strike in Tehran yesterday. Khomeini’s threat would be the secind such direct attack on Israel from Iran during the ongoing conflict since October seventh.
